Hi all you fish experts.
I am setting up a fish tank in the nursery I work at. I have one at home, so know a little, but not a lot about tropical fish.
However, as it is a nursery, I have to write a risk assessment.
I need to write about risks from eating the fish or drinking the water.

Does anyone know what harm the children could potentially come to if they did either of these things?

thanks

Yes, there are lots of things they could catch from the water and fish. Hang on, I've got a good link bookmarked. Here.

That'll put you off your fish pedicure Grin

There's also the risk of electrocution from the equipment so always switch it off before you do a water change. Filters are an essential bit of kit so there's no way around avoiding electrical equipment altogether.

Thanks Eau,

That all sounds scary. I suppose all I can write on the risk assessment is to supervise the children at all times, and if they drink the water, tell their parents to seek medical advice.

The chances of catching anything are pretty slim, I would be more careful with children than adults because their immune system won't be as tough but that risk assessment sounds pretty fair to me
