To see it in 3d we'd need to go to a more expensive cinema and I'm wondering if it would be too much for dd (6) to see in 3d anway.

ANy opinions?

Having seen the trailers I'd say it may be a bit too much in 3d for a 6yo - depends on what other films she's seen that are similar.

i saw the movie last night, and it was very violent and extremely freaky for young children, i thought. i am debating whether or not to let my dd,6, watch it. am thinking i'll prolly buy the dvd, and if she gets scared, she can stop halfway. tweedledum and tweedledee get dragged upside down by some scary bird or something with their faces in some thorns in the first half hour, and that's one of the milder bits of violence! the red queen and her right hand man also have some weird kind of relationship going on that i'm not sure is suitable for little children to watch! and they keep saying this phrase "bloody big head".i'd love to know what other mums think...

here's a good site that talks about its violent scenes and suitability for kids...there are spoilers in there by the way..

My 7 year watched it,he thought it was funny and enjoyed it.
I think it depends on your childs sensitivity and whether they are used to watching films such as these ie Nightmare Before Christmas,Corpse Bride.

I've seen more violence in cartoons on the tv tbh.

Burton's films are never sickly sweet and it is rated a 12A,so not classed as a 'childrens' film.

just got back from the cinema, watched it in 2d with 4 year old dd. she is only just 4.
She was not sacred at all, until the jaberwocky bit at the end, but i just gave her a cuddle and told her the goodies always win and she was ok with that.
She really enjoyed it and we had lots of talk about it on the way home. Shes gone to bed no problems and im glad i took her and didnt worry about listening to those that said dont.

Tim burtons stuff is quite dark, but i dont think no darker than ronald dalh really. or grim fairy tales.

its a good film

Took DS (5) to see it in 3D and he absolutely loved it. Not scary or overbearing.

The 3D is not the type that comes right out of the screen at you like Pixar do, but just makes the overall appearance of the film look so much better.

Brilliant! We all loved it. Me most of all I liked the fact they gave it some purpose and a feminist slant.
