Who wants to talk about a comparison of the film of The Road v the book of The Road?

The film was exactly as I imagined it all to look like from my reading of the book. No surprises or disappointments there. But, I'm wondering whether I should re-read the book. The film neatly ties up the family at the end as having been following the boy and his dad all along. I don't remember feeling it was that clear-cut from the book?

I agree, exactly how I imagined it too - they did a fabulous job with the film. The acting was amazing and I was'nt disappointed at all.

I love the scene with the can of coke. If it were my DH and DS, that is what they would do to.

However, I cried from start to end and found it all very emotional [its not real alert]

Hmm, but it could be real. That's why it is so affecting. Found the death scene hard

I dare not watch the film

I expect I would cry for a week

in the book, it does not even hint that the other family were following them the whole time

I haven't read the book but wish I had now. The film left me feeling completely empty. I was in agreement with the mother and so spent the whole film a little annoyed at the father.

AF - they tie up the boy that The Boy saw/thought he saw with teh family. Plus, in the underground bunker with the food, they thought they heard a dog above ground - and the family had a dog. No, I don't remember it from the book but wonder if I just wasn't looking for it. Viggo is great.

I love Viggo anyway

I love Viggo too but since having my children i can't seem to watch anything like this. Really want to watch it/read the book but will no doubt be in tears for ages after.

Is Robert Duvall good in it?
