Anyone seen this yet?

DC are desperate to go but I have a very low tolerance threshold for kids' movies, and local paper only rates it two stars out of five.

oh The trailers looked good. But I have feeling the trailers show the only two amusing bbits in the whole film.

And I have kind of promised the DC we will go and watch it. Pah.

We saw the 3d version last night and it was very enjoyable, I hadn't wanted to go because of the reviews, but really enjoyed it.

I didn't see the last 10 minutes because DD1 took projectile vomiting, so sorry to anyone at the Odeon in Belfast last night

Lmccrean · 05/04/2009 12:39

I saw the 2D one (also in odeon belfast!) last weekend. I skipped the 3d as dd is quite sensitive and thought 3d might be too much for her.

I thought it was excellent. Has quite a few gags that only adults will get, but the girls (took dd and her friend) both loved it too. Im planning to get it on dvd when it comes out...and I rarely buy dvds.

chocolepew · 05/04/2009 12:41

It was the first 3d film I'd seen, I was very impressed DD2 is 7 and a bit scared of the 3d.

nellie12 · 05/04/2009 12:45

those who've seen it is 4 and 5 too young for it? Ds's desperate to see it. (not 3d though)

roisin · 05/04/2009 12:51

I enjoyed it. I normally send the boys (9 and 11) on their own these days, but decided to join them for this one.

There were a couple of places in the film where I guffawed and no-one else in the cinema even tittered!

Dss absolutely loved it and said it was one of their favourite films ever.

Sorry, nellie, I can't really comment on its suitability for littlies as ones that young are really off my radar now! (ds2 used to be very very sensitive, and we gave up taking him to films for several years after he howled all the way through Finding Nemo!) It's a PG rather than a U, so personally I would have taken that as a guideline to say not really aimed at such tiny ones.

chocolepew · 05/04/2009 12:51

I think 4 or 5 would be fine, it isn't scary.

chocolepew · 05/04/2009 12:53

I was surprised at the PG rating, suitable for age 8 and over . I'm like you roisin, I laughed like a drain at the organ bit.

nellie12 · 05/04/2009 12:55

Thanks may risk it with older one - he isn't a bit sensitive to films.

patriciawentworthheroine · 10/04/2009 20:45

I took DD1 aged nearly 5 today and she loved it.

It's also entertaining for grown-ups, which is a plus.

bodiddly · 10/04/2009 20:48

ds is 4 and he loved it!

Lilyloo · 10/04/2009 20:49

I took dd just turned 4 last week and she was fine

Dumbledoresgirl · 10/04/2009 20:51

Dh took dd (9) and 4 of her friends to see it last weekend. The kids said they liked it and dh seemed to have enjoyed himself in a mild way. He did say though that the review Jonathan Ross had given of the film was correct in that there were less jokes for adults than some of the other kids' films of late.
