Took DS to see this (luckily at the £1 Saturday screening), - did anyone else think it was one of the most tedious kid's films ever? Great ideas, lovely messages etc, but for god's sake, so long winded and dull! Even DS was bored to tears. Are we alone?

Are you my sister?! She was moaning about it last night, after taking her five year old ds. I must admit, myself, dp and dds 13 and 11 all absolutely loved it.

Merrylegs · 16/11/2008 19:58

No. We too were slightly stupified.

I did take DD (8) though and wondered if it would have been better received by a space mad boy, but perhaps not?

After the terribly S-L-O-W start DD turned to me and said "is it going to be like this all the way through??"

The fat people in the chairs kind of redeemed it at the end, but it was a bit too little too late.

Thanks Merrylegs, glad it wasn't just me. I'm usually easily pleased but thought I'd go mad if I saw another drawn out robot chase again.

my ds 3 enjoyed short circuit much more!!!

janeite · 16/11/2008 20:02

Oh my two adore Short Circuit too!

costagirl · 16/11/2008 20:08

Well I turned down Space Chimps and Kung Fu Panda for Wall-e, as my friend said the other two were a bit lame - but at least I might have stayed awake....

Yawn, really boring film with some cute bits but nowhere near enough. My son loved it plus all the rip off merchandise!

janeite · 17/11/2008 18:50

You know, I am really surprised that people found it boring. I thought it was a lovely, honest, quaint and thought-provoking film that was beautifully realised, funny, touching and appealing to many ages.

AbbaFan · 17/11/2008 18:52

I REALLY liked this film, and thought it was the best thing Disney had done in ages.

purplehighheels · 19/11/2008 21:05

I found Wall-E totally underwhelming too! kung-fu panda is OK, but Space Chimps is quite funny in a slap-stick sort of way.

Ps costagirl are you in sussex? those were the 3 films on at our cinema this saturday.

Hi, not in Sussex tho I hail from there originally! I think most Cineworld cinemas have the same programme on a Saturday.

oh thank you op I have been too embarressed to admit to anyone in rl my feelings on wall-e. It was ds' first ever film, I was so worried as darkness and noise usually freak him out. I had done lots of prep and visited the cinema and talked about the dark and how loud it might be and what we could do if he needed to leave and so on and so forth. He was brilliant, he coped with the dark and the noise but got about half way through and said "it's a shame it's not a good movie mummy for my first one" I agreed whole heartedly, I thought it was boring in the extreme.

PortAndLemon · 20/11/2008 08:23

I thought it was brilliant (and don't think it's really a kids' film); it does seem to divide posters quite strongly.

piratecat · 20/11/2008 08:27

i loved it too.

A film with a start a middle and an end.

some films are just utterly pointless.

ie Barnyard.

that has to be the worst.!!!

costagirl · 20/11/2008 11:54

Pirate I loved the ideas, the message, the story line. It just seemed incredibly drawn out for the first 45 minutes, and very repetitive. Quite agree with you about Barnyard tho!

We loved it !

chocolatedot · 20/11/2008 12:35

I found it dull and very much resented being lectured to on the perils of consumerism by Disney Corporation of all people. Couldn't believe they had the nerve to produce a whole lot of tie-in crap to go with a film that lambasts the human race for having a throw-away mentality. What a nerve.

doggiesayswoof · 20/11/2008 12:42

Good point chocolatedot, that stuck in my throat too.

Having said that, and ignoring the "message", I loved the film - thought it was moving and funny and clever, and worked so well without any script to speak of. Dd (4) was transfixed all the way through at the cinema.

MollyCherry · 13/01/2009 00:07

We got it out on DVD, our DD (4) was the only one of the 3 of us that managed to stay awake.

RaggedRobin · 13/01/2009 21:24

i thought is was lovely and ds (3) loved it too. very good point though chocolatedot!
