Wondering about taking dss (5 & 8) tomorrow, as ds1 has an awful cough and can't run about!

Is it worth it?

we went last weekend and it is a nice film with funny bits for adults.
Its a bit dark and a bit scary in bits tho,

great cast of voices, but a bit like that nightmare at christmas film,

Thanks Deanychip. Ds2 wouldn't cope then. He's fine at home, but finds the large screen fairly intimidating even when the films are happy!

Took ds (5) to see this today and we were both very bored.
Ds even asked if we could go home at one point.

Very dissapointing.

I saw it today with DS (5) - we enjoyed it. In comparison, I thought Wall-E was a real disappointment, while this, although not blow-yer-socks off funny, was a good watch, and Eddie Izzard is fab as the baddie! I agree about the Nightmare before Christmas comment - we've just bought that on DVD for DS and he's fine with it, as although it's spooky it's got a positive message, which is the same for Igor.

we went to see it. Quite liked it, a little on teh dull side, a bit scary in parts for little kids

dragonseye · 19/11/2008 21:29

i thought the plot line was a bit complex for my 5 year old ds tbh. half way though i said 'do you understand whats's going on?' and he replied 'not really'

Grumpalina · 19/11/2008 21:44

Very odd one. I took DS1 (8yrs) and DS2 (4yrs) to see it knowing nothing about it. After a bout 10 mins I was panicking that I'd made a huge mistake as it seemed so dark and not really appropriate for children (and I'm not a prude. My two are not overly sheltered).

Anyway it did seem to improve and did lighten up a bit. Afterwards boys said they enjoyed it and they were certainly engrossed for the whole time. I just found it really unsettling. It was like a Gerald Scarffe type cartoon brought to life but maybe it's just an adult view and I'm tto used to the sacharin disney view of life. I certainly didn't like it.
