DD and I always sobbed at the end of About Time. Even when we knew the ending.

If you want sentimental and American, Remarkably Intelligent Creatures, or A Man Called Otto.

Marley and me. I always end up sobbing on my very confused dog.

Truly madly deeply

“Daddy, my daddy” from the Railway Children. I’m tearing up just writing it; I so wanted my daddy to come back like that as a child, but he died when I was 4.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 06/10/2026 07:33

Dead Poets Society, obviously.

I wept at The Holdovers last weekend. (Also, it’s excellent.)

The Bridges of Madison County
Finding Nemo

Homeward Bound ...every time

The endings of both Gallipoli and The Mission had me in tears.
Also The Elephant Man, John Hurt was amazing in that film.

Stand by Me, every time.

For a weepy romance, I really enjoyed Voicemails for Isabelle (on Netflix, I think)

I am a cryer and cry at the Cadbury's gorilla playing the drums, so perhaps take my suggestions with a pinch of salt.

The Lake House, with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock - quietly, sad, hopeful and romantic.

The Rui two part adaptation of Anna Karenina, but it is emotionally draining.

I hope you get through this time OP.

The Iron Giant
Coco
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
The Shawshank Redemption
The Straight Story - old man with eyesight too poor to drive a car drives a tractor across several states to see his brother.

Truly Madly Deeply is hardcore sobbing, are you sure you're up for that? I feel like I've been thoroughly wrung out after that. Marvellous film, though.

SocksAndTheCity · 07/10/2026 01:39

It's Such A Beautiful Day by Don Hertzfeldt.

It took me three attempts to get to the end because I cried so much, and despite how beautiful it is I don't think I could ever watch it again.

My Life Without Me

Got to be Beaches. Got everything in there, friendship, heartbreak, love, laughter, tears 😭

Thesummer · 07/10/2026 02:02

Lion. So so emotional even DH cried who doesn't cry at anything.
A Monster Calls - the book is also a tearjerker and quite a short read.
