I can find and read press reviews by myself if and when I want to - I'd be more interested to know what you thought of the film, @InFreeFall ?

momager22 · 01/03/2026 23:00

Eh? What do you mean, wtf?

InFreeFall · 02/03/2026 07:27

It was so out there weird, like really not sure what on earth I watched.

I guess ultimately it was a film about a woman/mother under severe stress. Much of it was fairly predictable, with weirdness thrown in for good measure. She wasn't likable, which I'm not sure about.

Anyone else seen it and want to share their thoughts - which are hopefully more comprehensive than mine?

I struggled to get through first 30 mins. As I childfree woman, I can only sympathise to an extent.

I saw a trailer for it when I saw Hamnet and thought it looked good... going to see it on Weds. The female lead has been Oscar nominated for the role!

I really enjoyed it, I like stressy films like this, I’ve seen a couple of French films where the a persons lives starts spiralling and gets out of control. I thought Rose was really good and I particularly liked all the therapy sessions.

just saw this!

Picturehouse is running an ad where ppl gush about how much they love going to the cinema

the last one is a woman saying how she 'finds peace' watching films

well I am PRETTY SURE she didn't watch what I just watched

Maybe she did, the cinema is my happy place and I found it amazing even if I watch a violent, scary or whatever film I come feeling really distressed . I think it’s the pure escapism and also no or being distracted and disturbed for a couple of hours.

I thought it was rubbish! If I had been nearer the door I would have been tempted to leave before the end.

I just thought there was very little story and it went on and on with me wondering how it was going to end as it never seemed to be going anywhere.

Four of us went and we all gave it 2/10. Told my son today to avoid it which made him fancy it!

It was good. It is 7ndependent movie style with black humour. not hollywood. The dark relentless side of motherhood, work and having a sick child. Everything is falling apart. She does what she can.

I was hoping to find a thread on this - no one IRL has watched it so have no one to discuss it with.

I thought it was very good but I didn’t like it (if that makes any sense) It was an uncomfortable watch but as a mother, I thought it captured the darkness of caring, of feeling like you must be to blame, of the relentlessness of it all really well.

Definitely hella bleak. The hole on the ceiling as a metaphor for the hole on her daughter’s stomach was interesting. The scene with the hamster was mad. Her throwing herself into the sea and getting thrown back out over and over- her absolute determination to die being thwarted was so… I actually haven’t decided what I think about that yet but I know I had total sympathy for her in that moment.

As someone who loves a very easy film I did nearly stop watching but I’m very pleased I stuck it out. Rose Byrne was so very good.

Phew! Really glad to get that all out of my head.
