I can't wait!! When is it out? Want to save up so I can see it at the cinema instead of my 17inch telly screen on DVD!

Do you think it'll be made into a DVD too? I want to collect them all for me DS to watch when he's older

this week i think.

yes i think it will go onto dvd.

iwant to know why they never make films of the magician nephew. thats my favourite book out of th narnia series.

Alambil · 13/06/2008 21:07

I heard when LWW was made that they'd eventually do all seven stories? Might just be a thing I dreamed up!

I love them all - I hope they do them all because it won't make much sense if they just take two or three and out of order too... starting with LWW isn't even how Lewis wanted the order to be, so they've already screwed it up, but it's not too late I guess.

found out today for you at the cinema. 26th june.

branflake81 · 18/06/2008 15:00

does anyone else remember the tv series?

I used to watch it when I was a kid in my dressing gown and slippers after my bath. I loved it.

witchandchips · 18/06/2008 15:07

actually think Magicians nephew should be read later even though it is chronologically the first. If you knew the professor in the LWW was Digory and that there was a tree from a magic place that was used to build a wardrobe then LWW would be half as good

PrimulaVeris · 18/06/2008 15:11

Ds is reading Magician's nephew now! He's going to start on Prince Caspian asap so he knows the story before he sees the film in a week or so.

Lovely excuse for me to read them all again too!

I suspect DVD out in time for Christmas [wink}

I fundamentally believe that books should be read in the order they are written. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is the first book, it is the most accessible and clearly is part of the run that goes up to the Silver Chair. The Horse and His Boy can be read at any time because it's more "in the universe of" than part of any sequence, and the Last Battle should be read last. However apparently Lewis wasn't that bothered, according to Wikipeadia he wrote "So perhaps it does not matter very much in which order anyone read them".

ALMazing · 19/06/2008 08:59

I think they are making the films that can use these same child actors first ie the ones that mainly involve Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy before they get too old to play children. The Magicians Nephew, The Silver Chair and The Horse and His Boy are about different characters so different younger actors will be able to be used.

SmugMcSmuggle · 21/06/2008 11:08

Saw it at the premiere (name-changed especially ) and I thought it was brilliant. Much better than the first film, and although they've added to the plot in places, I think it all works really well.

Definitely see it on the big screen if you can, some of the battle scenes really benefit from the scale. And I want Susan's dress in her last scene in Narnia. Wouldn't mind a snog from Ben Barnes either [cradle-snatching emoticon]

RosaLuxembunting · 23/06/2008 14:27

Read an interview with Anna Popplewell who plays Susan in which she says that she isn't in any of the others because her character is only in those two books - but Susan IS in The Horse and his Boy, so what is happening with that I wonder?

KayHarker · 26/06/2008 10:14

The complete order of filming hasn't been decided yet. They're doing dawn Treader, followed by The Silver Chair, and I think they're wanting to carry on, but I'm not sure in what order.

I think THAHB would be the most obvious to film directly after Silver Chair, but it's years in the future now, so who knows.

charliegal · 26/06/2008 10:27

Was crazy about these books when I was small, but now to my shame, I can't actually remember what Prince Caspian was all about?

Oh the wardrobes I hopefully felt the back of when I was a child!!

charliegal · 26/06/2008 10:28

Did anyone else do that?

Psychomum5 · 26/06/2008 10:30

comes out today, and I am so excited

cannot go until next wednesday tho, so have been satisfying myself with almost daily veiwings of the first film (yes, I am that sad), and the book (I still have the very first original set I got when I was 8, altho I have read them so much they are looking very very sad and old now, so I have a new set), and also going to the official narnia site.

I am far too excited aren;t I

charliegal · 26/06/2008 10:36

Psychmum- do you find that they stand up to an adult re-reading? I was wondering if all the Christian allegory might seem a little heavy handed.

KayHarker · 26/06/2008 10:36

psychomum, it's brill, I think you won't be disappointed.

Psychomum5 · 26/06/2008 10:41

well......I read them quicker as an adult, but I still didn;t really feel as tho the christian stuff was overly obvious (or maybe I am just a wee bit think in that regard).

I did not re-read TLW&W until after I saw the film as I did not want to be disappointed, and I found that it was, in fact, the most followed of all book/film, films I have ever seen IMO.

Harry potter left loads out, as have many other book/film, films that I have seen......narnia was pretty much exact to the book!!!

I thoroughly recommend re-reading them.

charliegal · 26/06/2008 10:46

Isn't the actress playing Lucy so cute?

Psychomum5 · 26/06/2008 10:50

the actress playing lucy looks exactly like my DD2 (well, she did in the first film, especially when you look at them at the same age)

even all her friends at school comment on it!!

charliegal · 26/06/2008 10:51

Oh how sweet, she is adorable. Just right for Lucy.

charliegal · 26/06/2008 10:54

Yes, just looked at your photos, I can see the resemblance. They are all gorgeous.

Psychomum5 · 26/06/2008 10:59

thankyou.

I am currently trying to find one to upload that is even more alike, but trailing thro pics that refuse to play nice is irritating!!

amethyst8 · 01/07/2008 08:08

I went to see this last night and it was brilliant. Better than the first one I thought. The children seemed more comfortable in the roles and it was fast moving. Susan and her archery was my favourite - her battles were really exciting. Really good. I thoroughly recommend it.

Buda · 01/07/2008 08:30

Watched Narnia last night for the first time. DS is not yet 7 so had thought he was a bit young till now. For the first hour he wasn't keen and said it was scary but he loved it at the end.

I was an avid reader as a child but somehow missed CS Lewis. Looking forward to discovering them with DS.

Hoping to take him to Prince Caspian in the next day or so.

Buda · 02/07/2008 06:51

We went yesterday. Really enjoyed it. It was a 5.30 showing so started around 5.50. When it finished I was amazed to see it was 8 o'clock.

DS liked it. Kept asking why Susan kissed Prince Caspian though! (He is at the hating girls stage.)
