He really likes the characters but he's only watched Lego versions. He's quite young for his age - so not too scary.
We know most of the Marvel ones will only be on Disney+ and we don't have that so likely will be buying DVDs.

Any of them. Has he watched the other films? He won’t really understand what’s going on unless he’s watched all of the marvel films.

drspouse · 15/08/2025 17:57

He knows who the characters are from the Lego TV/films but that's it.

I'd watch them in chronological order- phase one, two etc.
If you google search, it will list the order for you.

There are a lot of films to get through. Would definitely be cheaper to get a Disney plus subscription!

All of the avenger films are fine for a 13 year old. Christ my son was 5 the first time he watched it

This is true!

Some of them are PG13 or the equivalent though - are you sure it was these ones?

Off to do that!

Agree a Disney subscription will be cheaper than buying DVDs. Just cancel it when you’re finished!

I’d watch them in chronological order - Disney has this as an option from the homepage, or the Marvel section. I did this with DC last year and we’re all caught up now. We’re now watching all the new ones in the cinema as they come out. They’re great fun.

Most of the films are 12, so all good. Think it’s just Deadpool ones you might want to skip as they’re 15s. A lot of the mini series are 15 or 18 too, but the films make sense without them.

Daisypod · 15/08/2025 18:17

PG 13 is roughly the equivalent to a 12 here so it depends how he is with these. I have also had a sensitive boy who I would have to vet films for even up to age 13 so don’t let anyone make you feel bad about that.
im rather jealous as I love marvel and would love to watch them all fresh from the beginning!
Do it in the order they were released as this makes the most sense to the stories. Enjoy!

drspouse · 15/08/2025 18:28

That sounds perfect @Daisypod .
I thought about the Loki series as he's very fond of Loki in the Lego shows and also likes the Loki Bad God Guide books (nothing to do with Marvel I know) but the reports were that was very grown up.

Yes. Because they were 12A meaning ok with supervision

drspouse · 15/08/2025 18:47

Even so, some 12A would be fine for him and others not.

Well you know your son better. I let my children watch films up to age 15 as long as it isn’t too scary, gory or sexual. Dd loves her horror films

DS is more action like Pacific Rim

Tillow4ever · 15/08/2025 19:02

My youngest has been watching Marvel since he was around 5. He might not have understood certain elements, but he was never scared and genuinely loved them.

I can’t believe you’d even think any of them weren’t suitable for a teenager.

Avengers are only Marvel, so Disney+ is your only choice really. Check with your mobile phone provide as some do special offers like 6 months free!

Treeleaf11 · 18/08/2025 23:31

My ds is 13 and started watching them at age 6 as his older brothers were into them. We sat through Endgame when he was 7 at the cinema. They are fine. The Loki series is quite boring imo. I would start at the beginning.

drspouse · 19/08/2025 12:56

Thanks all - we just got a really good deal on a year of Disney+ (15% off with American Express and £13 off with Quidco).
