I like films that don't have twisty turny plots with tons of characters and confusing dialogue. I like simple plots, character exploration & beautiful cinematography.

My kind of thing:

Banshees of Inisherin
Anatomy of a Fall
The Outrun
The Wonder
True Spirit
Penguin Bloom
The Children's Train

Anyone have similar tastes who can recommend more?

The Straight Story — I don’t remember it clearly but I loved it when it was in the cinema many years ago, and I think it falls under your description.

It’s a David Lynch film (RIP), but really different from his others.

Perfect Days
Only Lovers Left Alive
Lars and the Real Girl
Leave No Trace

I’m not familiar with the movies you’ve listed but the film Wah-Wah by Richard E Grant fits the bill. Also Breaker Morant, dialogue heavy but very straightforward speech

Oh this is brilliant! The only one I've seen from your suggestions is Mrs Harris - the rest I'll put on my to watch list.

I ended up watching Beautiful Boy last night which I'd also put in that category.

The Dig
Agree with Leave No Trace and Lars and the Real Girl - both very good.

Burnt. About Chefs. Starring lots of famous's .

Not scenic as such but really well filmed with beautiful restaurants/ people . Easy to follow but interesting and satisfying.

One of my favourite films is Cléo from 5 to 7 by Agnès Varda which follows 90 minutes in the life of a French singer as she waits for medical test results.

She visits cafes, meets friends, travels around Paris, has kittens (literally), etc.

Nothing complicated but lovely.

*not not literally, I meant not figuratively.

I have always liked a film.called Days of Heaven, directed by Terence malick.
Stunning cinematography, stars a young Richard Gere, fabulous music by ennio morricone. Also stars Sam Neill.
Doesn't seem to be on much.

I like that one too. Tried to find it to watch a while back but it wasn't on anywhere.

I just want to add On Falling to this list. Very simple, not much dialogue, about a Portuguese woman living in Glasgow working as a picker in a warehouse. Sounds very dull but it’s exactly the premise I like, makes you think.
