Anyone seen this? Just finished it. Not a bundle of laughs, but I found it very thought provoking. Jodie Comer outstanding as a new mother surviving and mothering in the context of an climate disaster.

Now you've said that I agree re the clothes. I also came away not understanding what natural disaster had happened and why it was so bad.

I think it was obviously climate chaos. Floods, food shortages. All things we can expect to see more of.

I have two things lined up but will add this to the list

No one ran out of petrol when everything else was in short supply.

I liked the way the only character we knew the name of was Zeb. Really symbolised the "start", especially at the end with his first steps.

It was ok. It didn't go too deep into much. Quite refreshing in some ways but annoying in others.

This is usually my most loved genre but I couldn't get on board with this film. I don't need to see action from start to finish but it just seemed to skate along the surface for me, not gritty or making me think "God yeah that really could happen."
And I agree, had your typically BBC movie level of needless nudity!

Yes, it was generally a bit over optimistic about it all really. I still enjoyed it but it wasn’t realistic.

I saw this in the cinema a few months ago and really enjoyed it. The right mix of action and actual plot and dialogue.

Don't waste time watching this it's awful in fact it's probably one of the worse things I've ever watched.
Acting shite
And for the master of accents Jodie she constantly kept slipping back into her Liverpool accent?! Very strange.
If I'm honest the whole thing was weird and pointless .

OneFrenchEgg · 02/07/2024 07:33

Watched it with my adult dd who was incensed that at the end she comes in to their ruined home and starts cleaning, whereas he had obviously been living there a while and didn't appear to have 😂
Thought it was going to be some weird metaphorical thing but it wasn't. Sadly I think a woman on her own would have been prey for some men and I don't think it was very realistic. Not sure how the commune was so self sufficient.

I know I’m late to the debate but I just watched it. She was great, I was left feeling that her partner was just a bit of a self centred cunt and his family were a bit thick as who would leave a new Mum with a tiny baby in a Post apocalyptic landscape. I was just disappointed he survived. I was kind of hoping that she found new love with the other Mum.
