I haven't seen the films but loved the books - I didn't even know they were making a film! Doens't say much for their marketing does it?

The book is amazing, fantastic, wonderful!

The film has very little to do with the book though.

It was a HUGE disappointment, as we are fans of the whole series of books.

As a standalone film, it was OK - and the DCs quite enjoyed it once they had got over the shock of it being completely different.

Yes, it's a series.
You can get them separately, or in one large book.
Google 'The Dark is Rising' sequence.
And prepare to become addicted!

I didn't realise it was based on a series of books. That explains the feeling i had that too much had been squeezed in to the film. It wasn't a great film tbh but the children enjoyed it enough to watch it three times in three days so not awful either.

The books are wonderful and I have read, and re-read them, hundreds of times. I even named DS after one of the characters.

The film however is the biggest pile of tosh I have ever sat through. Avoid the film, buy the books. The first is Over Sea, Under Stone and is my favourite of the lot.

The books are fantabulously wonderful. I read them tons as a kid.

I saw the trailer for the movie and got Very Cross.

Will and his family are suddenly American!

Ian McShane as Merriman!

Just wrong.

I love the books, but they are a bit scary in places - Silver on the Tree in particular.

Couldn't bring myself to watch the film though.
