Will it be any good for 4 yr old dd? She really wants to go to the cinema. Last thing I took her to was Ratatouille which she fidgeted through but enjoyed. Anyone?!

sorry for being dim but I don't know the story line, is there anything remotely scary in it (eg the sharks in nemo, the seals in happy feet) as looking for something for ds first trip to movies but he can't do scary (not even scarface claw)

Lmccrean · 19/03/2008 09:04

dd1 loved it (she is five in May)
she is easily scared but no problems
and she followed the story quite well

hoxtonchick · 19/03/2008 10:09

hertsnessex · 19/03/2008 10:09

Story line (from having read it only), Horton, an elephant, finds a spec that he can hear tiny Whos talking on. He rescues them and puts them on a flower. The other animals think he is mad. Eventually the vulture takes the flower and puts it in a field of millions of other flowers just like it so Horton cannot find it. Horton goes through every flower to find the Whos and does. The other animals, in an attempt to save him from his madness say that they are going to destroy the flower. Horton tells the Whos that they have to make as much noise as they can so the others can hear them. They do and are saved and the other animals are very sorry and eveyone is happy.

Is the film all in Dr Seuss rhyming couplets or is there other dialogue>

Has anyone seen the Spiderwick Chronicles; thinking of taking dd who is 6 would it be too scary? TIA

collision · 23/03/2008 23:02

Horton Hears A Who is FANTASTIC!!!

Took DH, ds1 (6) and ds2 (3) and we all loved it. (Mind you it cost £24 for all of us and I threatened them all that if any of them fell asleep they would be in trouble! )

DS1 giggled all the way through and ds2 said it was the bestest ever!

Very recommended.

imaginaryfriend · 23/03/2008 23:04

I wasn't that keen but dd (5 1/2) thought it was quite good.

kitson08 · 23/03/2008 23:06

Very good.
collison you should get the family ticket its cheaper

collision · 23/03/2008 23:08

Well wouldnt they have automatically given me the family ticket?

I did say 2 adults and 2 kids. Family??

LynetteScavo · 23/03/2008 23:09

Would I be daft attempting to take a 9Yo, nearly 5yo, and 2.8yo on my own???

kitson08 · 23/03/2008 23:11

No I went to see it and it was only when I looked at this little price board on the side of the counter that I saw the family ticket, the girl never told me that its cheaper to get a family ticket.
You would think that they would tell you.

collision · 23/03/2008 23:12

Was it the Odeon Cinema?

If it was then I am going to go and complain about that!

soapbox · 23/03/2008 23:15

I saw it today with my DS (almost 8) and although he enjoyed it, I thought it was a little more babyish than most of the stuff we've seen recently.

Having said that, it is sweet enough and would be highly suitable for younger viewers.

kitson08 · 23/03/2008 23:16

I was at vue but go online and check out there site. I would think that they do a family ticket for the same price

It is beyond boring. I wondered if there was an anti-abortion message ("a person's a person, no matter how small") but this may have been a delusion engendered by earthshattering dullness of the film

I thought it was crap

slyandgobbo · 25/03/2008 17:11

2 y/o DD significantly more excited by that monkey PG tips advert than by the film itself...
