Regret seeing
Ant Man’s latest adventure
Black Panther sequel
Napoleon
I am sure there has been more but these stick out the most.

Regret not seeing
Past Lives

Films that have surprised you?

Barbie really rubbish, despite a stellar superficial acting and clunky script

Barbie really rubbish, despite a stellar superficial cast, it had bad acting and clunky script

Sera1989 · 23/12/2023 11:56

Not at the cinema but The Killer started well and then became boring and predictable

Blackcountryexile · 23/12/2023 11:56

Regret seeing Saltburn. Bonkers and there were some scenes I've struggled to forget!

onlyconnect · 23/12/2023 12:00

Agree Past Lives. Definitely number 1 in 2023 for me.
Also enjoyed:
Till
Empire of Light

beguilingeyes · 28/12/2023 14:06

I think the only film I've seen at the cinema this year was The Era's Tour (twice).
Aside from that I loved The Glass Onion and Knives Out.

Picklemeyellow · 28/12/2023 14:10

I haven’t seen many films this year as none appealed but I’ve seen a few with the lady I care for.
Regretted - Barbie
Really enjoyed - Wonka, despite many saying they didn’t like it, I actually loved it.

mum2jakie · 31/12/2023 21:12

If we're just looking at cinema releases, I've only seen three and enjoyed them all:
Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse
Barbie
Wonka

Looking forward to watching more films at the cinema next year hopefully.

BarrelOfOtters · 31/12/2023 21:36

I was glad I saw Oppenheimer at the pictures. Honestly nothing else has appealed. Watched Barrie and a night in Venice on a plane….they were ok.

Watchthedoormat · 31/12/2023 21:39

Really disliked Barbie and Ant Man
Surprisingly didn't mind Black Adam

jay55 · 31/12/2023 21:45

Regret seeing Ferrari, the trailer was so misleading.
And Theatre Camp, that was such a pile of cringy poop. I love theatre and musicals and still wanted to remove my eyeballs with spoons.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 31/12/2023 21:46

Totally regretted seeing Beau Is Afraid. OMG, the closest I’ve ever come to leaving the cinema. Should have learnt my Ari Aster lesson with Hereditary, his other shite film.
Regret not seeing Oppenheimer, I will see it but I think it might have been a better watch actually IN the cinema.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 31/12/2023 22:09

Avatar 2 was diabolically awful. It wasn't my choice to see it, but I was profoundly apologised to when I woke up.

65 was utter shite.

Indiana Jones was crap.

M3gan was meh.

Renfield was Meh.

Last Voyage of the Demeter could have been something, but really wasn't.

Glass Onion was shite.

The Meg 2 was fun.

Blue Beetle was the best of the frankly disappointing (and in the case of the first, abominable) DC and Marvel offerings. Rebel Moon gets a special mention for overall shiteness/a mashup of Suicide Squad-Kill Bill-Aquaman visuals frame for frame-with a shred of I Robot squeezed in/just being crap from start to finish.

Creed III was OK, if instantly forgettable. Very much how I felt about the Transformers one, as I think I saw it (transformer dinosaurs, right?) but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

Tetris was OK, not so impressed with the Blackberry one.

Oppenheimer was OK.

Tell you what I thought was absolutely brilliant, though - Godzilla Minus One. My money's on an Oscar for sound design alone, as that was absolutely incredible in the cinema.

everymirror · 31/12/2023 22:26

Barbie.

Abracadabra12345 · 02/01/2024 19:07

Regret seeing:

Wish.

So pleased to have seen:

Godzilla Minus One
Anatomy of a Fall
Wonka

Three really excellent films

anybloodyname · 02/01/2024 19:10

I watched Avatar 2 on my big standard tv at home
Really wished I'd gone to the cinema to see that , it would have been amazing

StellaAndCrow · 04/01/2024 20:38

Regret seeing:
Men (horror film with Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear

The end is just ridiculous body horror, but the first half I found really disturbing, and did not make me feel any better about men!

Saw Oppenheimer and Napoleon at the cinema and wasn't impressed by either.

Oppenheimer was constantly jumping around so was hard to follow.

Napoleon was just, meh, they wasted a fabulous actor.

Saw lots of kids stuff, mostly forgettable but really liked elemental.

mum2jakie · 06/01/2024 19:47

Film I regret seeing - Ferrari - extremely boring!
