I was finally persuaded (hasn't taken many years) to watch the first film... I must admit, I wasn't interested at all, not in the slightest .. however - I am pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoyed the first film, so much so, I jumped straight into the second and it didn't disappoint!

Anyone else not seen or took a long time to watch them...?

At the risk of being that person- consider picking up the books before finishing the rest of the movies.

As you get further on, the longer books’ movies feel rushed, characters are underdeveloped and parts of the plot don’t make much sense.

They’re enjoyable if you already know the lore, but looking back I feel so bad for making my mum sit through them when she didn’t have a clue what was going on!

I agree that you'll get a lot of enjoyment from reading the books

the books do give you a better understanding but I think the films are good on their own too, go and binge all of them NOW 😁

My dad! He's 72 and was "oh no, not for me"
First one was on TV around Christmas and he was gripped and found the other ones to watch

It's because his job for so long meant he never really got to sit and watch anything, he's retired now. Even persuaded him to watch Wednesday and now he keeps asking me when there will be more Grin

This.
I had to keep pausing the films to explain what was going on to DH who hadn't read the books.
Worst adaptations ever. Although it would have been interesting to watch the films completely standalone just to see how I felt about them just as they are. Plenty of people have only seen, and loved, the films.

Agree with others, compared to the books the films are a bit shonky. The three main characters are dreadful actors - don't get me started! And lots of detail is left out especially as they go on. But...there is enough there to make them a great watch, they last the test of time in my opinion and have become classics. And the adult actors turn in some amazing performances.

Never read the books, never watched the movies.

No particular reason, it just never happened, although Radcliffe & Co’s attitudes towards JKR hasn’t exactly increased my interest in the films.

Maybe I’ll read the books one day.

I agree - read the books. Just the beginning and end of Goblet of Fire though, skip the Triwizard pointlessness.
