Fantastic beasts and where to find them - how scary?

I have a 9 year old who has watched all of the Harry Potter films, and is making her way through the books.

She's just started reading FBAWTFT, and wants to watch the film. I've not seen it. It's rated 12A. as is the last HP film, however as I'd seen that before, I was able to warn her of any darker moments.

Can anyone share their experience of their child watching both, and if they found either scarier?

My 8yo has watched fbawtft- he really enjoyed it after seeing all the Harry Potter films. I don't think it's as scary as deathly hallows.

It's similar to the scariness of deathly hallows. There's scenes of children being beaten and people dying. I've just watched it with my 11 year old for the second time - she was 9/10 when she first saw it. She's quite sensitive to scary films but is also obsessed with HP and managed to cope ok!

@CuntRYMusicStar perfect, thank you.

I'll give it a go with her then. Worse case - it gets turned off and I'll watch when she's in bed.

Thanks @catsnore - will tell her that so she knows what's on offer

The IMBD synopsis talks you right through the film generally (may be spoilers) so you can see what is likely to be shown and when, if you think she'd be better forewarned about any of the darker points.
