Definitely worth watching. If it’s your sort of thing. I wouldn’t say it’s an action film. It’s more dialogue and a bit of suspense. Amazing acting.

It’s an excellent film, but it’s very long and there is a lot of talking. Cillian Murphy is brilliant.

My adult son saw it yesterday, he really enjoyed it, but said it’s the loudest film he’s ever seen, they had to hold their drinks as the tables shook.

It is very much worth watching. It is an incredible film.

Go in with appropriate expectations. It’s dense, dialogue heavy, and political, but absolutely worth the watch.

The vibrations traveled right through the seat. I almost wondered if it was designed to do that for effect. Agree with everyone else, very dialogue heavy but good.

It's an incredible film but I would definitely read up a little on Oppenheimer/the Manhattan Project (even just Wikipedia) before you go in as it is very dense and if you know nothing of him/his story then you can get bogged down trying to keep up with what's going on.

I love the way Chris Nolan doesn't patronise the audience by spelling every little detail out but because he assumes people have some knowledge of the subject base if you don't then you can get a bit lost especially as it's such a science and dialogue heavy film.

Totally agree with this. One of the rare cases where the more of the story you already know the more enjoyable it is

I'm pretty sure I felt the vibrations of this film whilst watching Barbie last night!

I have a question, I generally really like Nolan films (apart from Tenet - Brilliant idea, awful film) and like Spielberg, he tends to stay clear of sex scenes. Was going to see this with DD, but I hear this does contain some sex and DD would be mortified! 😂 Are they at least quick, I.e, mother and embarrassed teen daughter friendly?....

melj1213 · 26/07/2023 12:20

@SaltnPepperHead There is only one scene where Oppenheimer and Jean are having sex but there are a couple of other scenes with them both nude, one is a short scene which is designed to make you feel uncomfortable due to the context (but it is literally 30seconds) and the other is longer but no more than a couple of minutes.

MalibuBetty · 26/07/2023 12:51

The first half could have been about 45 mins shorter I felt it really dragged but the second half picked up. Brilliant acting from Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr

He’s not wrong. The sound drowned out half the dialogue. Which was a problem given how much of the film relies on dialogue, though I could see why the sound was such an important aspect of the film.

Go to a subtitled screening if you can.
