Am fed up of watching rubbish on TV, so thought I should see some films. What would you recommend? Nothing too scary as I'm on my own in the evenings, but don't mind trying almost anything else.

Thanks!

Thumbs up to all the films on the thread so far, but I just wanted to add A Matter of Life and Death. Gorgeous film, seen it a few times and happened to catch the very end of it on film4 last night and became tearful just seeing a couple of minutes. Beautiful.

If you fancy something different try Amelie Its a quirky french film with subtitles. Don't let the subtitles put you off as the film is just brilliant from beginning to end. The main character Amelie is absolutely mesmerising and with the beautiful backdrop of Paris it is just perfect. It is now one of my all time favourites.

jezzemx · 15/02/2008 18:27

and if all else fails. You can't go wrong with Billy Elliot.
