I had no intentions to see this film. I saw the original (in English titled 'a man called Ove') at a film festival (in swedish with subtitles) and really enjoyed it. I really didn't see the need in recreating it.

But it just so happened that I ended up with a free (to me) cinema ticket at a cinema I hadn't been to before. Free? Ok sure, I'll rgive it a go.

What can I say? I loved it. The original is still great, but they have done a really good job. So many times a foreign language (to me) film gets remade into English and loses something along the way. I'm not sure that this lost anything.

If you are into big Hollywood blockbusters, this might not be your kind of thing. But if you like films that get to the heart of people, you may well love this.

Oh I just watched it and I was so incensed at how much the new family were so grabby - free driving lessons, baby sitting, tools, lifts, all for some leftovers and biscuits 😂 I think the reciprocal stuff was a little underplayed !

I watched it on a flight yesterday. Loved it!!

I really enjoyed it, it wasn't quite as good as the original imo, which in turn wasn't as good as the book, which i loved.

Well, I really enjoyed Tom Hanks's performance, he was excellent as usual, but I'm afraid I wasn't keen on the family, especially the mother. I enjoyed the flashbacks and the scenes with the neighbours/ friends, though.

I just watched this and I have a face full of snot and tears. I always love Tom Hanks films and this was no exception. I didn't realise it was a remake nor a book. Will look those up. And the bus crash and tragic baby loss sequence with Kate Bush's haunting This Woman's Work song - which is one of my most loved songs of all time - was just heart wrenching. Unlike some, I really liked the neighbour mum character. She was highly empathetic and not 'grabby' IMHO. Recommend.

Me and DH watched this and sobbed the whole way through.
Fantastic film and a worthy adaptation book.

This has just been released in Netflix. Really enjoyed it. Don't normally cry at films but this had me going a few times.

I watched it on Netflix yesterday, and there was a very clear trigger warning at the start. Enjoyed it - am thinking of getting the book.

Glad they have taken on board my advice. Smile

It wasn't there when I watched it on a plane 18months ago.

I didn't realise it would be so sad
