How about Parenthood. Not one for the boys.

orangina · 08/01/2008 11:11

I watched how to lose a man in 10 days last night, (I was in a VERY bad mood), and it did the trick.
Pride and Prejudice is a must.
Working Girl is a classic.
Strictly Ballroom.

bratnav · 08/01/2008 11:14

Dirty Dancing, Erin Brockovich?

I have to admit to the period drama being my fave by a mile though

I have never seen Dirty Dancing

I was always a bit unsure about it tbh

it didn't seem like a relationship that was meant to last - am I missing the point?

The Holiday with Jude Law and cameron Diaz etc
I watched it alone (I did weep three times but I was a bit down and it was cathartic, not poignant or traumatic weeping) and loved it.
It is a manufactured item rather than a proper film but pushes all the buttons

PrismManchip · 08/01/2008 11:31

The 40-Year-Old Virgin is surprisingly good
I didn't rate Knocked Up (by same filmmaker) but it is easy going and has a few laughs.

gigglewitch · 08/01/2008 11:32

dirty dancing - dis-engage your brain, you'll be fine!! i think the whole idea is to avoid reality and "thinking" for this stuff

Cappuccino · 08/01/2008 12:19

yes button-pushing

that is exactly what I am after
