TBH, Bee movie looks crap, looks same old.

Alvin and the Chip munks, well at least they might appeal to dd's penchant for furry fluffy things/cute blobs.

you could preview chipmunks on quicksilverscreens.com, but obv not watch the whole thing, that would be wrong...ahem. they might have bee movie too

Lmccrean · 01/01/2008 20:41

Go and see Enchanted! I laughed so hard I didn't have time to fall asleep (and I was knackered)

thegrowlygus · 01/01/2008 20:43

Unfortunately my DS1 (age 3) was adamant that Daddy took him to see the "chimp-monks" Daddy is regretting the hours of his life that he will never get back. He said it was beyond awful.

I get the bee film. I am told.

Daddy does say that he is keen to see Kung Fu Panda which there is a trailer for before the chipmunks.

took ds to see alvin and the chipmunks and although not a great film, it was better than I expected - it helped having the man from 'My name is Earl' in the film. The chipmunks weird singing keeps the film moving along at a better pace than really bad films with no redeeming features like Over the Hedge.

Mars, I loved Enchanted as well, but the DDs (aged 7 and 5) were scared by the wicked queen and terrified at the end. I mean shaking and sobbing terrified

MarsyChristmas · 01/01/2008 21:00

Yes... it was a bit superscary. Like the animated scene in Snow White.

Shame that because other than that it was completely wonderful. (I enjoyed it so much that I forgot the dragon.....) I went with DD2(9) and her friend.

DontCallMeBaby · 01/01/2008 21:07

Funnily DD (3.9) took the scary bits of Enchanted absolutely in her stride - this from a child with a tendency to curl herself into a small, hedgehog-like ball at the merest hint of Ursula in The Little Mermaid. I like to think she felt empowered by the sight of a princess wielding a sword.

Considering Alvin etc in the next week or two - Bee Movie has had some bad reviews, and like pirategirl says, same old same old. Whereas the Alvin trailers make me giggle ... I have a puerile sense of humour apparently.

thegrowlygus · 01/01/2008 21:08

Hey - Over the Hedge does have redeeming features - namely that Ben Folds did the soundtrack!

pirategirl · 01/01/2008 21:40

well thats good news, the guy from my name is earl, i quite like fancy him.

DD has got a thing about the bee movie, but the animation just looks tired, nothing looks cute.

gawd, whatever happened to good films, says the old biddy in the corner.

Wish they'd put on some of the classics, so we could see them on the big screen. Peter Pan and such.

My DD (almost 7) and DS (4) both really enjoyed the chipmunks. They chose it over the bee movie one. DH (43 and a half) said it wasn't too bad, has seen worse kids films, and the chap from My Name Is Earl was a redeeming factor.

Sadly, while they were all lording it up at the cinema, I was at work ...

smartiejake · 02/01/2008 09:31

Another postive for Enchanted (once you get past the first nausiating 5 mins) it's quite amusing.

My SIL saw Alvin with her 2 ds's (one 3 and the other 13) and she said it was brill.

My DS (7) loved Alvin - I quite enjoyed it aswell

pirategirl · 05/01/2008 20:06

I was pressing for Alvin, yet ended up with Bee movie.
ahem

It was crap, but dd liked it.

I rarely venture to the big town to cinema so the novelty of comfy seats was good.

Thats about it.
