Did anyone else watch this film on BBC last night? I found it very realistic and quite upsetting in places, but I thought the film did a great job of raising awareness about the harsh realities of being a delivery driver or carer. It wasn't easy viewing, but it was worth watching. Great acting.

The credits thanked UNISON - they probably gave a lot of info based on the experiences of their members. If the film depicts the reality of conditions for delivery drivers it's no surprise there is such a shortage of them.

Saw it at the cinema and agree it is upsetting in places, quite intentionally. As is Ken Loach's previous film I Daniel Blake.

I thought it was really good, the acting seems more improvised than scripted almost as if they tell the actors what is happening but then they just act in a way they would in that situation if that makes sense. I thought the woman who played Abby was excellent and you could really see her struggles. I think these films are more relevant than ever at the moment as people struggle with the cost of living rise. But yet life becomes more and more aspirational due to Instagram etc where we are expected to be happy and successful, it’s a mental health perfect storm.

Yes, the dialogue seemed very natural, maybe there was some improvisation there. The desperation of the man seemed immense.

If you liked this film (which I did), you’ll probably enjoy Rosie and Herself about homelessness in Ireland.

Since watching it I haven’t once got frustrated when a delivery is running late.

Thanks for the recommendation. I think these jobs are so awful and so indicative of how the working world is going.

This film should be mandatory viewing for MPs who have come from privileged backgrounds - so often they seem blissfully unaware of the reality of many people's lives.

Very bleak

Yes - very bleak indeed, and a hard watch. Ken Loach has a knack of making situations feel very real.
