I watched it last night and keep thinking about it

It was incredible what they did to save the boys in the caves

Remarkable. Has anyone seen it?

Yes, it's really good. I'd also recommend the Aquanaut book by Rick Stanton - covers the rescue but with other tales of his caving/cave diving career too

MarshaBradyo · 04/02/2022 11:44

Oh brilliant will get it

I was in awe of the divers, so modest and kind too

Yes what an incredible story!
I really felt for the doctor, he was so negative until he wasn’t iykwim
Recommend it

I'm going to watch it tonight, I don't have Disney+ but National Geographic is showing it at 8pm.

Groovytiger · 04/02/2022 20:51

And Nat Geo has it on at 9pm too - thanks for the recommendation

HelpINeeedSomebody · 05/02/2022 07:42

I watched it last night and thought it was fantastic.

I remember the story at the time but had no idea of the details, logistics and how many people from round the world were involved.

runwithme · 05/02/2022 07:53

We saw it at the cinema on limited release and thought it was excellently produced. Such an unbelievable story that the whole world was invested in. As a side note, is anyone following the story of Rayan, in Morocco? All the updates are in French or Arabic so I can't tell if they've got to him yet

Groovytiger · 05/02/2022 21:16

Thanks so much for recommending @MarshaBradyo. It was one of the best programmes I have seen in a very long time. It was so well executed. Absolutely fantastic.

MarshaBradyo · 06/02/2022 12:07

So pleased you all thought the same

Tg they did what they did considering the caves were plunged into water after

I thought it was amazing, I cried so much.

Those cave divers, just incredible people. So calm, so skilled, I don't have enough words to say how incredible they were.

I am so happy for the kids and their families that they got out, but I am even more happy for the divers, especially the anaesthetist. How strong would you have to be to cope if that had gone wrong?

They really are the best of humanity.

I know this is an old thread but just wow. We watched this last night and I'm still recovering! I feel so emotionally overloaded if that makes sense? I remember hearing about it in the news at the time but when you get to see the details of what was involved in the rescue it is just incredible. These people are absolute heroes.

sashagabadon · 23/10/2022 10:15

Yes I saw it. Made you proud to be British (and Australian for the medic)
I think cave diving in dark cold cavernous dangerous places is quite a unique hobby and U.K. presumably has lots of such caves around its coastline to do it ( if you like that sort of thing!)

QueSyrahSyrah · 23/10/2022 11:53

I haven't watched this yet but listened to a podcast interview with the Australian medic the other day which was really interesting so now planning to watch the film.

It's part of the 'A slight change of plans' podcast series if anyone wants a listen.

Absolutely amazing film. I didn’t realise that they honestly expected to lose some or even all of the children as they brought them out - the fact that they didn’t is amazing. Absolute heroes, all of them, from the Thai Navy Seals (one of whom died) who kept going in despite not having the training or the specialist gear, to the surface teams who diverted the water, to the international team who gathered to do what they could. It makes me feel quite emotional just thinking about it tbh.
