I really loved it. Kristen Stewart did a really evocative portrayal of Diana.
I wasn't keen on the Anne Boleyn stuff or the puking scenes but the soundtrack, Stewart acting and the filmography were brilliant. I have just come out of an experience where I felt trapped (work) working with people with very traditional and rigid views, where everyone was out to get one over everyone else, unless they were any ally. I felt very trapped there so watching this was cathartic I know that must sound ridiculous😂
The eeriest aspect of the movie is that it actually evoked the way Diana came across in the media during the 2 years or so before she died. I was a foreign student in England at the time and had only known about Diana for a couple of years. I cried my eyes out when she died but even before she died she just seemed very vulnerable and I took notice when I normally find anything related to celebrity culture dead boring.
The movie and especially Stewart just brought that feeling back, very odd, I've never felt that way about any celebrity. The film made me shed a couple of tears, I just found it sad. And so fucking horrible how the RF treated her when she was battling an Eating Disorder. Attitudes to mental health were completely monstrous back then. I know some older people 70+ who still have that horrible attitude, wanting to appear all classy and well dressed with smart antique homes but a nasty, unkind and harsh attitude.
I know I must sound a deranged with this post, I'm quite normal usually 😉. Just had enormous stress and fucking detest cold unkind people, like the royal family were portrayed.
