Paying too much to watch tv

Which streaming services do people have?
Got the lot Netflix , Prime , Disney , Sky ,
It's costing so much money, does anyone else have this same problem as me?

OP posts:
BabyYouKnowMyHandsAreDirty · 24/09/2021 15:03

We have Netflix, Prime, Disney and Now TV. We used to have Sky but we just weren’t watching it enough and we were paying a lot for sports, movies and multiroom for 4 rooms.
I would be happy with just Netflix but OH likes them all.

ThePotatoCroquette · 24/09/2021 18:27

Netflix, Prime, Disney, Currently have Now TV as well on a half price deal will search out another deal or cancel when that runs out. Or switch to movies from entertainment. Prime I don't really count because I have subscribed for years for deliveries so I see that as a freebie really. It's a lot when I consider that I also need broadband/WiFi and a Tv licence on top of that, but pretty standard now I think.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 24/09/2021 18:33

Only pay for tv license and hayu £4.99 a month(huge real housewives/ kardashian trash kind of person)
Netflix - use a friends login
Amazon- use in-laws log in
And that’s it

namesnamesnamesnames · 24/09/2021 20:39

We now have Disney plus, Netflix and Amazon prime (because we use Amazon for shopping a lot). That's plenty! We don't have time to sit and watch loads and loads anyway. We had sky for years but it got so very expensive.

daisypond · 24/09/2021 20:40

No. We have a TV licence and Netflix.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/10/2021 08:15

netflix - quite expensive now
ds pays for prime
his gf pays for disney

NannyR · 03/10/2021 08:18

I tend to cycle between netflix, prime and britbox rather than paying for all of them at the same time. So I'll watch Netflix for a few months, then when I've seen everything I want to I'll cancel then sign back up for prime and do the same.

MysteriousMonkey · 03/10/2021 08:24

No TV license as we only watch Netflix and Prime. Have eldest student prime membership at £39 a year. Oh we have Now TV entertainment at the moment but only because we have a special offer, after that we will get rid.

I do want Disney for The Walking Dead but will use Tesco vouchers I think.

DeathMetalMum · 03/10/2021 08:25

We have disney+ and prime. I recently used my clubcard vouchers to get 3 months of disney+ and I will probably continue to use them for this.

We canceled netflix last Christmas time and haven't missed it. Watching a few series on disney+ and prime is good for films. We will get netflix for a short while when the next series of witcher is out and catch up on anything we have missed.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 03/10/2021 08:27

@OnlyFoolsnMothers That's nice of your friends. Is it a long term thing that they let you use their log in? Do you share the cost?

I've let people use my log in before but after a few months I'd expect them to get their own!

Nope don’t share the cost- the offered I didn’t ask- I also wouldn’t massively care if they took it away.
My sister and I though are considering a Brit box subscription and we would split the yearly cost.

knittingaddict · 21/10/2021 07:42

We have:

Tv licence
Netflix
Amazon Prime - useful for free deliveries
Disney
AppleTV - free trial to watch Ted Lasso

Will stop one soon, probably Disney.

DarkDarkNight · 23/10/2021 02:06

I have the same as you OP. I used someone else’s Netflix up until recently (they still use my Disney+) but now Netflix is bundled with Sky.

I have a pretty basic Sky package - no kids, movies sports, no HD. I only watch the occasional thing on Prime but wouldn’t want to cancel it as there are other benefits I like. Disney+ has load of things my son loves so that’s a priority.

DeeCeeCherry · 23/10/2021 02:36

Netflix and Prime. I got rid of Sky TV. Also opted out of TV Licence a few years ago. Downloaded ITV Hub & CH4 apps, I watch programmes on there occasionally via Catch-Up.

womaninatightspot · 23/10/2021 02:55

I pay tv licence plus amazon prime, apple tv came free for a year withh ipad. I've had disney/ now but just for a few months and then cancel.

MyLifeNow20 · 23/10/2021 21:45

Do you need a tv license to have apps on a firestick?

Lulu1919 · 23/10/2021 21:51

Netflix and Prime..Got prime mainly for free deliveries though !!!

JellyBellies · 23/10/2021 21:53

I believe the rules have changed and you need a TV license to watch catch up content on BBC iplayer, 4 on demand, etc

TheSpiral · 23/10/2021 21:56

I absolutely resent paying for TV at all, apart from the license. We just had Freeview for ages. Then we had Prime because I accidentally signed up for it but I discovered that loads of stuff you had to pay extra for, and series I was half way through watching would suddenly become that you had to pay extra. So I cancelled it. Now I am paying for Disney Plus which I got to watch Hamilton, kept to watch Wanda Vision and then Loki - and DS likes the other marvel series and the Star Wars ones. I refuse to pay for more than one streaming service at a time though. If we want to watch anything that’s not on Freeview or iPlayer etc and there is plenty on there to keep us occupied, we get it on DVD, usually second hand.

popcorndiva · 23/10/2021 21:59

Currently have

TV licence
Now tv entertainment ( have 6 months of vouchers to use though so currently free)
Prime - mostly for deliveries and Bing at the moment
Britbox - paid £10 for 3 months. I use this the most as a sucker for murder mysteries and cheesy reality shows
Netflix- use my mums log in as she uses my Amazon log in, in return.

We also pay for Amazon music at £3 a month to use on the Alexas

BatshitCrazyWoman · 24/10/2021 10:34

Netflix and Prime plus TV licence, that's all I need, and of course Prime is handy for other stuff too.

DaisyNGO · 24/10/2021 10:37

Interesting "problem"

Why so many?

TV license
netflix
Amazon prime
Disney

We dont have a "box" though (sky or virgin etc) so we only pay for streaming services.

We got Disney free for a year with a mobile phone contract. Cancelling it soon to get Apple TV for a couple if months (theres a specific show wr want to watch).

We wont get rid of Netflix or Prime as we use them daily.

languagelover96 · 24/10/2021 10:50

Netflix
Sky

Used to have Hulu and Amazon Prime but cancelled those.
