Really not, apparently. All the reviews say not, and AJ said she wouldn't let her own ds see it.

Ds (8) would love to go, and has seen eg. the Alex Rider film and quite a bit of Lord of the Rings, but will not be allowed to see this.

I heard a review on the telly the other day and some americans were wondering whether is should be an R. which is an 18 so probably not

thanks for replies - will divert him elsewhere.

I really appreciate you getting back to me.

DS2 (nearly 10) saw it the other day.
He said it was quite scary, and has lots of blood in it.
He is quite hardy.
DS1 (nearly 12) watched the trailer on the Beowulf website, and opted out of seeing it at all.

suzywong · 30/11/2007 14:54

nope
too scary

AJ wouldn't let her kids see it because you can see her minge in it, kind of

PanTheBruce · 30/11/2007 19:13

Def. not. Saw it last week, and some of the shocks and imagery is way too scary..the 12 classification is about right IMHO...odd film in all.

lulu25 · 30/11/2007 19:14

odd, and unsuitable i think. (and i think i am pretty liberal about such things).

Hallgerda · 04/12/2007 13:03

Well, I'd have to agree it's pretty unsuitable. Blood and guts everywhere, and some fairly heavy innuendo (though no full-blown CGI sex, not quite...). It's more the sort of film you'd take your teenage son to, and you could both enjoy for different reasons (though those wretched helmets do obstruct the view). It takes a few liberties with the plot as well, so probably not an ideal introduction to a great classic of Eng. Lit.

Having said all that, I took my 8 year old and he enjoyed it.

Elasticwoman · 20/12/2007 18:22

No: not suitable for 8 year old. It's 12A.
Very good film though, I enjoyed it. But I'm a bit older than 8.

MariNativityPlay · 20/12/2007 18:25

It really hacks me off that they sexed this up. Beowulf is one of our homegrown sagas and it would have a been an eye-opening treat for children interested in history and mythology
AJ's minge, forsooth
