Hello! Looking for recommendations to curl up to with the Xmas lights on and a lovely hot chocolate in lieu of our normal big family Christmas Eve! Something we can all enjoy but not too complicated for her to follow - she loves things like frozen, Paddington, monsters inc etc
Thanks! X

The Snowman
Although it's not very long

tempnamechange98765 · 18/11/2020 13:41

The latest cartoon version of the Grinch, with Benedict Cumberbatch. Big hit!

EllieQ · 18/11/2020 13:43

Klaus - Netflix film that came out last year. We all enjoyed it.

DowntonCrabby · 18/11/2020 13:45

The muppets Christmas Carol

Blerg · 18/11/2020 13:47

My 4 year old loves Elf and Arthur Christmas. We end up watching them at other times of the year too.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 18/11/2020 13:48

Angela's Christmas is short but a nice one.

CoolAsACourgette · 18/11/2020 14:26

My kids love the Cbeebies Pantos (Nutcracker, Christmas Carol, Hansel and Gretal). Only 45 min long but they love the songs and familiar faces.

TinyTear · 18/11/2020 14:38

Arthur Christmas, definitely

emeraldcity2000 · 18/11/2020 18:46

Brilliant, thanks all! If it's a lockdown Christmas, we can try them all!

I second the cBeebies pantos, DD is 7 but still still watch them all, has done for about 4 years now.

I came on to say The Grinch. My five year old loves it (he's watched it about 8 times whilst he's been isolating 😂) We have a range of ages in our house - primary through to secondary - and everyone enjoys this film (though once is enough for the older ones!).

My DS is loving Alien Xmas on Netflix. It's 40 minutes long so it's great for little ones as they don't have to sit for too long. I've enjoyed watching it too ...maybe not for the 100th time by Christmas rolls round though as it's been on repeat for days already.

Polar express (my favourite Christmas movie)
Arthur Christmas
Klaus (has a really good meaningful story)
The grinch (the new one)
Santa clause (1,2&3)
Christmas chronicles
Elf

On Disney plus they have mickey Christmas movies. They have Christmas holiday sing along too which my daughter loved.
Also the nightmare before Christmas is a really good movie.

longwayoff · 23/12/2020 22:32

Klaus is a great film but might be a but scary for under 8s, I wouldn't recommend it for small children. I've just watched A Christmas Story, rent on Prime. Again smaller children won't love it but over 8s and parents will. Highly recommended if you haven't seen it. It's in the style of The Wonder Years for those of you who grew up with that. It's very nostalgic and very funny.

RedRec · 23/12/2020 22:43

Not exactly Christmassy but Happy Feet. First film my children saw at the cinema. They are 19 and 16 now and we still talk about it fondly.

longwayoff · 23/12/2020 22:51

And all the Wallace and Grommets too.

MyNameForToday1980 · 23/12/2020 22:56

DD4 loved the Grinch (new one, with BC).

There's a sequel to Angela's Christmas on Netflix - which she's also enjoyed.

Ditto the Netflix new Christmas film Jingle Jangle.

Also the Frozen short (Olaf's Frozen Adventure on Prime).

I tend to steer clear of "does/doesn't Father Christmas exist?" themes (eg Elf or Polar Express) as I don't want to plant the seed of the truth doubt just yet.
