Like what movies did you watch as a kid that you loved but realised weren't as good as an adult

I would say
Finding Nemo.

OP posts:
Finfintytint · 21/08/2020 22:47

The Cat from Outer Space. Walked out of the cinema.

NellyTimes · 21/08/2020 22:49

Spaceballs. Laughed like a drain as a kid, but thought it was dogshite when I rewatched it a few years ago.

Pascha · 21/08/2020 22:49

The Goonies. What a load of bollocks. I thought it was shite in 1985 and nothing DH says can change my mind.

AriesTheRam · 21/08/2020 22:54

Labyrinth.
Goonies.

Loved them as a kid but ruined the memories by watching them as an adult.

Lost Boys came on tonight and god what a load of tripe. Really. The hair alone is a crime. Just awful.
I adored The Goonies as a kid. I wonder how I'd feel about it now.
I'll tell you what films will always stand the test of time: Anything by Studio Ghibli, particularly My Neighbor Tortoro and Spirited Away.

Snog · 22/08/2020 08:29

Ferris Buellers Day Off

The80sweregreat · 06/09/2020 10:16

My son adores any anime films , but they leave me a bit cold.
People used to love the American Pie films in the 90s but I thought they were a bit crass. There were so many silly films about at that time that people raved about!
The Goonies and Stand by me are a bit underwhelming but seem to have legendary status.

Olivianat · 09/09/2020 00:31

Harry Potter

QualityStreetOfMercy · 09/09/2020 00:39

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is bloody awful.

Such a load of shite acting from that woman in the crap nightclub wailing away to appalling music and then screaming for an hour and a half, until the film's dragging itself via a theme park rollercoaster ride to it's inevitable but welcome end; although they can stick the whip of bewildering ownership scene up their bums.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 09/09/2020 00:44

Ghostbusters. Pile of shite.

The 2016 reboot however 😁

Yes! Indiana Jones is so bad.

James Bond films. Shite.

Agree. Except Lost Boys is SO bad it's good. Twas always thus.
QualityStreetOfMercy · 09/09/2020 01:14

@SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing Yes especially the Bond films with Roger Moore in. I have read that he's a lovely man, but those hideous films ...

AfolMummy · 09/09/2020 01:20

As soon as I read the thread title I immediately thought "The Goonies" but I can see a couple of PP have already mentioned it 😆.

justilou1 · 09/09/2020 04:27

Bambi and Pinocchio - both left me psychologically scarred for life

pisspants · 09/09/2020 06:24

I rewatched Wayne's World recently as wanted my kids to see it but it was so shite I had to apologise and couldn't watch it to the end

toria658 · 09/09/2020 06:40

Back to the Future, E.T, Ghostbusters....

Am shocked by the lack of love for the Goonies ( wondering how long till Star Wars get mentioned)

TravelDreamLife · 09/09/2020 07:19

James Bond were on late night tv when DD was a newborn so I saw most of them. Realised the early ones were JB getting banged on the head, saved by a woman, then taking the credit.

Romancing the stone/Jewel of the Nile
Seinfeld. (Hated it then as well)
Fresh prince
Buffy

So many more......

rookiemere · 28/09/2020 19:56

Bit late to the party, but Dirty Dancing. Went to see it as a teen and thought the age difference between the two leads was a bit much.

@QualityStreetOfMercy that would be Late Caoshaw, who met and married Steven Spielberg on the set of this film! She's also spoken quite candidly since the film about how she hated playing a screaming bimbo and wishes she'd spoken up.

I love the plot but they could have made such a good female character and she was awful

GlummyMcGlummerson · 11/10/2020 02:00

Goonies for me. What's so good about it?
I remember hating Labyrinth too and thinking how creepy David Bowie was in it
