SPOILERS!!!!

I feel guilty for even DARING to say this in RL, everybody seems to love it, it’ll win all the awards and Oscars and everything, of course it will.

And I did like some of the performances and stuff.

But God, I hated what they did with the flashbacks and flash forwards. I went with two girls who should have loved this and from talking to them afterwards, they clearly didn’t understand a lot of it. Eg that Beth was ill and recovered but got ill again and died. They though Jo was dreaming the bit where she recovered.

And they didn’t realise that Meg had children.

I know I know, they might be just a bit slow on the uptake Grin, but it shouldn’t be a confusing story.

They took the heart out of the story imho. What’s worse, they made it boring.Sad

There’s a scene towards the end where Jo writes her book and has all the pages spread out on the floor, getting them in the right order. IF ONLY GRETA HAD DONE THAT WHEN SHE PUT HER FILM TOGETHER.

I’m sorry. But I need to know I’m not alone.

I refused to even go see it!
Not a massive fan of Emma Watson for one but also I loved the version from the 90s with Winona Ryder.
Loved the book also

Just saw the post upthread that Jo stays a spinster in the film. I completely misinterpreted this and thought the film indicates she ends up with professor Bhaer.

And isn't the (smoking hot) professor with her and her family at the end with copies of her books on the table? Did I make that up? I might have as I didn't really like the film except for Jo and Amy.

I thought the flashbacks were confusing (and I knew what happened), and I suspect that the story was told that way to make it different.

I love all the books and hated this film with a passion.

I loved the cinematography, the decors, the clothes. The casting, apart from Meryl Streep, is shockingly bad, particularly the men and Beth. I really liked Florence Pugh (that gorgeous voice!) but she’s not Amy. And the feminist message is crude and completely lacking in nuance.

I’m glad it doesn’t seem to be winning awards.

I haven't read the books but I was able to follow it.

The audience clapped when I saw it too.

I agree with many of the complaints re casting, particularly Laurie (very boyish) and Amy (way too grown up)

I absolutely loved it and was surprised it hasn't been nominated for more awards.

The time changes are confusing but I read after I saw it (wish I'd read it before) that it just jumps between two specific periods to illustrate the older characters all reflecting on a key period in their lives.

I thought Timothy Chalamet as Laurie was the outstanding character - so GORGEOUS!!

I saw it, had to concentrate hard due to the flash backs, i had seen the BBC version fairly recently which helped.
the beach scene was so beautiful.
i cringed at the dancing at the beginning.
they absolutely rushed the professor story, at which point i was uncomfortable in the cinema and willing for it to end. there is a lot to fit in and the film did fit it in, albeit feeling rushed.
