Has anyone watched it?
What did you think ?
It's in cinemas but has also been released on Netflix.
Directed by Martin Scorcese, starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, it certainly comes with some pedigree.

We went the other night. I really liked it, it's long though I felt they could have shaved a bit off.

BuildBuildings · 24/11/2019 09:08

I have. It's long so if you watch it in the cinema take snacks! I enjoyed it. Although I normally want more women in my films! The characters aren't particularly nice but they aren't in those type of films. It felt like a last telling of that type of story from both the actors and director.

ThePonderer · 27/11/2019 11:43

I was quite apprehensive about sitting through a 3 hour film but it was really absorbing so it didn't feel that long.

Very high body count! Top quality but occasionally I was distracted by wondering how old characters were at certain times during the flashbacks.

I'm glad I saw it at the cinema but I might also watch again on Netflix once it's out.

We went tonight - it was DH's choice. I was a bit dubious about the length. Went to the loo beforehand, just in case - but then had to go again about half way through!

But really enjoyed it, despite the length. The only bit I felt let it down was Stephen Graham. Although he's a great actor, he clearly couldn't get the accent right, and his scouse came through a bit too often.

.

EachandEveryone · 01/12/2019 14:03

That’s a shame as I never noticed in Boardwalk Empire

MillyMollie · 01/12/2019 16:20

I didn't notice anything about Stephen Graham's accent. I thought he played the part very well.

SorrelForbes · 08/12/2019 22:26

Just finished watching this. A total acting and directing masterclass from De Niro et al. Probably the last time those actors will be seen on screen together again which added another of, I'm not sure if this is the right word, nostalgia?

I'm a fan of Stephen Graham and thought he was amazing in Boardwalk Empire but I too thought his accent sounded a bit scouse at times.

EachandEveryone · 20/01/2020 17:36

Im about half way through it. Enjoying it sofar. Cant say i noticed the how he made them look younger. I guess its because all the classic films were when they were younger and thats how I remember them anyway. I must pause now and make some food. It is very long but its not boring.

luckyjack319 · 24/01/2020 10:11

9/10 for me
Like it!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/01/2020 16:28

Watched it at the weekend, completely absorbing,I loved it.

HarryHarry · 28/01/2020 17:14

I couldn’t watch it. The de-aging thing was too distracting. DeNiro is supposed to be 28 but he moves and talks and looks like an old man! The eyes are also wrong. If the story was compelling enough I could have ignored it but I found it kind of boring. I’m sure I’ll give it another go one of these days.

HappydaysArehere · 10/02/2020 10:27

Sorry folks but didn’t like it at all. As said above DeNiro looked all wrong as a young man, especially when he was being referred to as a boy. Too many killings - talk, talk-bang..talk, talk -bang. The repetition bored me. I thought how can Scorsese keep making these blood ridden films and sleep at night? Surely they must infiltrate his dreams. Perhaps there are so many killings it doesn’t affect him anymore.

fishonabicycle · 11/02/2020 13:03

I thought it was just loads of old white men shouting. And the CGI was shite. Should have used younger actors to play them in their youth.

onlyconnect · 14/03/2020 10:02

I came on to see what people thought of this film having just watched it on Netflix.
I really didn't think much of it. I felt as if I'd seen the same thing many times before. The only character I could feel anything for at all was Peggy which was a problem for me. I'm surprised by how much many of you seem to like it. Maybe I'll give it another go in a few months' time.

Deadringer · 26/04/2020 12:13

I am late to the party but i loved this movie. I found De nero's blue eyes very distracting but other than that i was mesmerised. Al Pacino was fab!

BethPorter · 08/05/2020 04:21

I had to watch it in 2 sittings, but thoughtnit was worth it in the end
