Is the new dumbo film any good then?

I think Disney are re-making too many originals. Didn't like the look the new Dumbo and Aladdin also. Lion King trailer looks good though.

I loved it. It's quite long and obviously sad buy very good

Allthepinkunicorns · 05/04/2019 18:35

It was such a good film, loved the 3d effects and I may have shed a few tears.

I enjoyed it but wouldn’t take young children to see it as it’s quite upsetting in part....

......and there’s no singing in it.

GunpowderGelatine · 08/04/2019 00:40

I thought it was lovely, a bit sad but nowhere near as sad as the original

NewMumSept2014 · 08/04/2019 08:38

My children are 4.5 and just over 2. Their granny wants to take them to see this at the weekend. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether it’ll be ok for them? Realistically the 2 year old will probably sleep through it if we go at lunchtime so I’m more worried about the 4 year old.
Has anyone taken kids of similar ages?

My cinema isn't admitting under 7s as apparently a lot left half way through last week, but that may just be round here being a bit odd!

I haven't gone yet. I'm worried about the part with Dumbos mum. The in-laws watched it last week in 3D and seemed to enjoy it.

Went on Saturday, my 4yo was bored and he usually is fab at the cinema. 2 little girls next to us spent the entire time playing on the rails in front - very distracting. I never say this but the over 7 idea is a good one -
Tbh was a bit bored myself!!

GaraMedouar · 08/04/2019 08:56

I loved it and so did my 7 year old DD. Sad bit in the middle of course but happy ultra uplifting end. Goodies win, baddies lose. Aw. I did have to wipe a tear!

vickibee · 08/04/2019 08:58

My 10yo son and I both loved this movie,

Totally different from the original with a heartwarming ending

(apart from having very noisy and inconsiderate family behind us)

AverageMan · 08/04/2019 16:08

It's rated PG, which is a grade up from the original. Two year olds would be a bit young for it. Took my 5 yr old at the weekend, and he enjoyed it, although some of the plot may have gone over his head.

It's 2hrs long, and I could feel myself nodding off towards the end. It's a little dragged out.

Jamjarmama · 09/04/2019 22:05

My family really liked it, it was a lovely film

Calzone · 09/04/2019 23:56

It’s too long and a little dull in part.

No under 7’s is a good idea.

jacksonmaine · 17/04/2019 15:20

My nearly 7 year old(6.10)got very upset a couple of times. The fire scene at the end was too much for her. I didn't realise until the credits (Tim Burton) how dark it was going to be. I know PGs are for 7 years and above but I don't think she would be ready for this film for at least another year.

If you have sensitive DC think again!
