Has anyone seen this? The kids liked it but I thought it was dire

Yeah, I thought the same. Kids loved it though. Almost as good as Harry Potter one of them said, high praise indeed Confused

Piffpaffpoff · 19/08/2018 22:28

It was ok. Super cheesy and a bit heavy handed with the “message”, but ok.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 20/08/2018 00:02

Seeing it tomorrow morning. Been going to the cinema regularly for about 2 months and somewhat attached to the trailer cant wait.

I liked it! It was sad and funny, but i think would be lost on kids. Id highly recommend it.

Quickerthanavicar · 20/08/2018 23:02

it was ok.

We really loved it. I want to see it again!

UAEMum · 23/08/2018 18:46

I saw it yesterday. I thought it was rubbish. The only saving grace was the gorgeous Ewan McGregor.
Kids loved it.

I thought it was slow to get going but second half much better and 5 year old DS really enjoyed it!

I got irritated by the trailer - based on an English book, English setting but American voices for Pooh and friends. It just doesn't make sense.

After reading/listening to the very mixed reviews I've decided that I'll definitely give it a miss. It seems to be a bit unclear who the target audience is.

Goodbye Christopher Robin, on the other hand, was excellent. It came out last year so might be on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Definitely one for grown ups though rather than a kids' film.

We went to see it today, the kids enjoyed it I slept through most of the first half, the second half was ok not amazing I did have a little tear in my eye though

This film prompted a real reaction in me and my 9 year old ds (not known as an overly sensitive soul). He burst into tears during the film and declared he wanted to leave the cinema as it was so depressing! I completely agreed (I’d been surreptiously drying my eyes up to that point). Even my older son slumped his head on my shoulder at one point. The first half was so bleak - everything designed to make the viewer well up. I actually found the foggy Hundred Acre Wood scenes really eerie. Another child was crying and saying it was too scary. The second half picked up a bit but was nowhere near feel-good enough to make the viewer forget the misery of the start. Pooh et al were cute but sad and the American accents jarred. No idea who the target audience was. I would not recommend it for young children simply because I think the message would be lost on them and there’s not enough character action or development. I’m disappointed as I was looking forward to watching this - the trailer captured the only fun parts.
