Would a pg movie be suitable for a 3 yr old?

Hi all,

I realise that this is probably very PFB but would be let a 3 yr old watch a pg movie without having seen it first?
Ds1 was brought to the cinema to see Peter rabbit a few weeks ago. We'd like to bring him to the cinema this weekend as he really enjoyed going and also, I've had almost no time alone with him since ds2 was born.
Most of the kids movies are rated PG though. Coco, duck duck goose and another one (can't remember the name). Or should I just bring him to see Peter rabbit again?

It's a tough one if you haven't seen the movie.

We usually look at the parents guide on imdb.com they give a rough outline of any scenes that might bother children or any language you might consider innapropriate.

Usually pg are pretty safe and you know your child best. Dd I would have had no problem with. Ds is prone to nightmares so we always check imdb first.

My 4 year old dd was a bit upset by coco as she could understand the death part but not quite grasp the fact that they believed the dead came back for one day a year so found it a bit confusing and upsetting which I hadn't anticipated.

The general rule in my head is that PG films are aimed at children aged 7+. I wouldn't show them to younger children without watching first.

Thanks for the replies! I wasn't aware of the website so that has helped. Ifco guidance is that PG is suitable for ages 8+. Who knew?? Grin
We might just chance duck duck goose.
