Could I take my 4 yo pre-schooler to see Paddington 2? Husband away this weekend, so killing a couple of hours in the cinema would be very welcome!!!

Thanks in advance :-)

Yes, it's utterly charming, mine loved it :)

NC4now · 28/11/2017 21:42

Yes, it’s lovely. I’d actually borrow a four year old to see it with. It’s the perfect age.

m011y · 28/11/2017 21:44

neither of my 2 (5&4) enjoyed it. the 5yo cried and thought it was really scary.

SmileAndNod · 28/11/2017 21:44

Took ours yesterday, it was fab and she loved it!

Mine was very frightened and had to be taken out in the end (at her request), despite us trying to reassure her.

My 3 & 6 year olds enjoyed it, although my son's favourite bit was the Paddington Christmas advert the showed beforehand. It's a great film - much better than some of the kiddie dross I've sat through with them .

Herbcake · 28/11/2017 21:55

I think it's less scary than the first one. Nicole Kidman was rather sinister in that.

Fairylea · 28/11/2017 21:57

My son aged 5 loved it, he has a learning disability which means his cognitive understanding is about 3 years old and he absolutely loved every second! I couldn’t believe how well he sat - he was glued to it. It has a really clear baddie / goodie storyline which is easy to follow and lots of funny slapstick bits here and there. Excellent and charming film.

concretejungle · 28/11/2017 22:15

Well said fairylea - sums it up
Perfectly.

Thanks all so much for taking time to respond. I will be going armed with popcorn and sweets on Friday am!

Paddington 2 is lovely! I'm sure all of you would love it. Have a great time at the movie!

Sirzy · 29/11/2017 15:49

It is the only film ds (8 and autistic/adhd) has ever sat through the whole film without even needing a toilet escape!

SueSueDonahue · 29/11/2017 16:13

I think it's better a bit older (even my teen watched it happily), but a 5yo would be fine.

One of those rare films for all ages.

Has he been to the cinema before?

Flumplet · 29/11/2017 16:36

Someone said it's sad - I don't like sad films!!

starfish8 · 29/11/2017 16:40

Yes he has SueSueDonahue so he'll be fine with the overall experience.

We just saw it today-a lovely film! DD (nearly 8) got quite concerned for Paddington at a couple of points, not scared but she does get very into films. I thought the first one was more scary purely as Nicole Kidman's character was so sinister. Hugh Grant was excellent.

starfish8 · 04/12/2017 07:55

As a quick update, we went Friday and it was fab! We both loved it and seemed perfect for my 4 yo who enjoyed the goodie vs baddie story, funny slapstick bits and the final major scene on the trains!

Thanks everyone!

My 6 yo found it really scary. The train scene was too much for her. She doesn’t handle “mild peril” well - we had to leave Finding Dory!

NatureAbhorsAHoover · 16/12/2017 17:49

My almost-4 DD doesn’t like ‘scary’ at all and she loved it. OP glad yours felt the same! 🐻

RJnomore1 · 16/12/2017 21:23

I'm 41 and I found it traumatic! The underwater bit...
