I went to a really good talk at the BFI last week about stephen king and movie adaptations, interested to hear what others feel are the best adaptations. Personally i really did love the shining though sk hated it! I also really loved the crappy children of the corn film...

I watched The Shawshank Redemption today after this thread reminded me how bloody good it is.

I remember watching Firestarter years ago and being disappointed.

What's the film with Pierce Brosnan that isn't the Lawnmower man? May have been US mini series?

And the one they have to ride the rollercoaster?

I have a soft spot for Sometimes They Come Back

Love Salem's Lot film and Children of the Corn

Thinner was entertaining and Needful.Things too

I like those 90s TV films in a nostalgic way and saw The Dark Half at the cinema around that time.

The Dead Zone
Shawshank Redemption
The Stand (probably only because it's one of my favourite books ever)
Stand by Me
The Green Mile

I hated The Mist, I was traumatised.

If you love SK...please don't watch the new IT.....awful is an understatement!

I saw the new Gerald’s Game on Saturday. For a Netflix original it was really good. IT (old one-not seen new), Christine, Misery, Green Mile.

My top five were:

The Green Mile
Misery
The Shining (mini series aswell as the film)
It (as above)
Bag of Bones

I think although Stephen King is an absolutely fantastic writer, the problem he has is that not many of his books translate well to film. I loved The Green Mile, Stand By Me and Misery, Carrie and The Shining are okay if you haven't read the books but The Shining completely misses the point of the book, hated Pet Semetary and was quite disappointed by the remake of IT to be honest. I know there's a second film coming but there were very few parts that were faithful to the book
