I watched it (for the first time) and wept buckets. Tom Hanks, as ever, was excellent. But does anyone else think it's rather odd? There was really no need for the last bit, where we learn that poor old Tom Hanks is going to be living for a long, long time and, for me, it turned the film rather sour on me, as the hero is punished. I remember feeling the same way when I watched AI.

That's Stephen King for you, no-one gets a 100% happy ending.

Cried as always. .

The Green Mile is the one film that always makes me cry. When John asks them to leave the hood off cos he is scared of the dark... I lose it every time (pregnancy hormones may have made the usual silent twats descend into proper snot bubble sobs last night)
The films is extremely faithful to the books which is rather refreshing.

*sobs not twats!!! I have no idea where autocorrect pulled that one from. Hmm Confused

It's one of those films I can watch over and over again, loved watching it last night been a while since I last saw it.

It's an allegory of Jesus isn't it? Able to heal. An altogether higher being and yet.......

I did my English essay in school on the Green Mile I love it so much.

The whole cast were amazing, the guy who plays Wharton gives me goosebumps!

But Paul Edgecomb sees that as his punishment for killing a "miracle of God". The book is amazing

Oh god. That's a proper cry fest for me. From the minute poor mr jingles gets squished im pretty much in tears.

I love everything about it. The book is excellent. The acting is wonderful. It drew me into other Stephen king books. They all have this way of messing ever so slightly with your head. This one isn't scary as such but it does make you think.

Another one I never realised was SK is shawshank redemption.

I also love tom hanks a bit. We watched captain Philips last night. That was really really good.

My post has so little to do with the film. Years ago, teaching A level Lit, I called on students to hand their homework in at my desk. I heard one whisper to the other: 'It's like the Green Mile." :o

A wonderful film.

By the way, I no longer take in HW like this, I just send round a folder and they put their work in. Or not.
