Hello
Been looking forward to this for a while but just seen it's been rated a 15 and cannot find any advisory warnings as to why.
Have you already seen it and without spoilers, can you give a guide as to how (un)suitable it is for under 15s? Thank you in advance x

Watched it last night. It's okay but not the 5 star masterpiece the guardian says it is.

Difficult to comment without giving spoilers but there is a disturbing scene involving the pig where you dont see whats happening but can hear it. It is implicit what is happening but not graphic if that makes sense.

How old are your kids?

MargoChanning · 29/06/2017 15:32

There is a scene in a slaughterhouse that could upset young children. It really depends on their age.

Thanks Flowers Not giving ages as I try not to print specific details on here but too young. Will watch with my eldest as she's legal. Smile

Just finished. It was an excellent film. Very pleased it got made (am a fan of Jon Ronson which his how I'd heard of it). Those two scenes were harrowing. The rest was a 12. Have not read the Guardian review so cannot comment on that, but certainly it would be one of my films of the year.

Okja.
Dammit. Title was changed once already. Apologies.
Have just read both Guardian reviews and thought they were fair actually. The CGI was incredible, Tilda makes an effective baddie, the food industry, GM foods, activism all come under scrutiny and a stand out performance by Ahn Seo-Hyun. (Although I also liked Paul Dani's performance. Took a while to recognise Jake G, not sure what to make of him. Johnny Morris, he wasn't!)

Paul Dano.

I enjoyed it too but i didnt find it as moving as i thought i might given the guardians glowing review. The CGI was incredible and yes, those scenes were upsetting. Loved Tilda Swinton - she was awesome, as always.

Glad you enjoyed it Smile

I thought it was brilliant as did my daughters 18 & 21. Korea where part of the film is set is bloody beautiful. I felt some of the human acting didn't quite come off - but would thoroughly recommend nonetheless.

There is a disturbing scene involving a slaughterhouse which is why it is a 15 cert.

Very sad, all in tears, we are a family of vegetarians/vegans so perhaps slightly biaised.

Maybe the "15" certificate also has something to do with the liberal use of the "F" word, or am I just an old fuddy duddy?

GinSwigmore · 02/07/2017 00:58

No, that too. But that was the least of my concerns/nothing my teen hasn't heard before. She was the right age but would have coped with the swearing had she been a couple of years younger. The slaughterhouse scenes, no, although I don't think any of the content was gratuitous/OTT apart from Jake's hammy acting But it is meant to be a film for adults (Netflix blocked it on my kids' accounts which is why I had looked up the rating). Swearing aside, how did you feel about the film?
