I'm extremely old so am looking for something that's out on DVD for ds and a few friends to watch on Friday night. I see that Lion was released last week but I think it will be too talky and emotional for them? I'm thinking a decent disaster movie or something but the last one I watched was The Towering Inferno so something a bit more recent. Is Airplane still funny for teenagers now or is it just too dated? I remember a lot of Saturday Night Fever references they aren't going to get.

Ocean's 11 is good, mine loved it.

They'll probably love all the Ironman/Thor/Avengers films, if they haven't seen them already.

annandale · 15/04/2017 18:57

Ooh oceans 11 is a great idea!

Hmm Ironman - another good thought.

Battleship is a 12 and is a good movie for me teenage boys.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/04/2017 19:03

Fast & Furious?

Redcrayons · 15/04/2017 19:04

What about some old school 80s classics, Ghostbusters or Back to The Future?

Weebleswobbles · 15/04/2017 19:09

Speed

CheeseandGherkins · 15/04/2017 19:11

San Andreas, brilliant film.

CheeseandGherkins · 15/04/2017 19:11

Jurassic World, also good.

Redcrayons · 15/04/2017 19:12

Ooh Speed, good shout. I don't think mine have seen that one yet.

Pyjamaface · 15/04/2017 19:12

Rogue One

annandale · 15/04/2017 19:26

Ach, Speed is a 15 Sad

San Andreas is a great idea but a friend of ds's had that at a similar evening a few months ago so they've all seen it.

I introduced ds to Ghostbusters a few years ago - successful but he's seen it a few times.

I'm heavily leaning towards Ocean's 11 but I wonder what The Day After Tomorrow is like? [old crush on Dennis Quaid has nothing to do with this]

Oh I didn't believe fast and furious was a 12! Thank you

PhilODox · 15/04/2017 19:34

Jurassic world.
Spectre is also 12, but i think ought to be 15!

Weebleswobbles · 15/04/2017 19:36

Speed is a 15? Wow bet it wouldn't be classed that if it was made today!

How about The Goonies?

Shylo · 15/04/2017 19:36

I was going to say Jurassic World, but Fast and Furious is a good shout

nancy75 · 15/04/2017 19:41

Guardians of the galaxy

annandale · 15/04/2017 19:47

I'm turning against fast and furious just because it seems a bit adult in theme even if done as a 12 - I felt the same about jason bourne (though actually it just turned out to be really dull). Currently shortlisting Ocean's 11, Day After Tomorrow, Thor.

My face reading the Battleship synopsis was a combination of Shock and Grin - i.e. a rictus of horror. Phobia of ships/sinking/deep water - that film is not entering the house!

I am Legend (can't see certificate, though a bit gory so maybe 15?

Guardians of the Galaxy is good, superheroes, funny bits and Chris Pratt is fit. See also Thor for similar review.

nancy75 · 15/04/2017 20:10

Dd 12 is obsessed by guardians of the galaxy,it's surprisingly not bad!

CheeseandGherkins · 15/04/2017 21:46

The day after tomorrow was also really good, I enjoyed it, as did my dcs.

UsernameInvalid66 · 22/05/2017 17:44

Sky High or Stormbreaker (and I'm giving away my own or at least my children's ages there! Wink )

NassauBeach · 22/05/2017 17:46

Ferris bueller?

Cakescakescakes · 22/05/2017 17:46

Guardians of the galaxy is awesome

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 22/05/2017 17:49

Given that the OP was having the film night in April I'm sure she will appreciate the ideas Grin

MakeItStopNeville · 22/05/2017 17:51

I was going to say Guardians of the Galaxy, although most have probably seen it seeing as GotG 2 is currently out.
