I'm heavily pregnant with SPD so not quite as mobile as I was Blush

I'm trying to find some really good films to watch, the ones that stick with you for a while after, I do like films based on true stories. Please absolutely no horrors, last time I watched a horror I had a bad dream, slept walked into my door and gave myself two black eyes Sad

One that took me by surprise was Cloud Atlas. It's a long one, but found I didn't clock watch once! Not a true story though!

The Martian for me. Loved it!

MatchsticksForMyEyes · 08/10/2016 19:16

The House of Sand and Fog. That has stuck with me. Amazing acting from Ben Kingsley.

Has anyone watched the pianist? Is that too much for a pregnant lady? Shock

The Dish with Sam Neill. It tells the true story about Australian scientists manning a remote outback satellite dish station and their involvement in the first moon landing (this might sound dull but it isn't, I promise!!)

dodobookends · 08/10/2016 20:34

Oh, and 'Local Hero' - my favourite film.

Beebeeeight · 08/10/2016 20:35

Persepolis

Jaimx86 · 08/10/2016 20:37

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

CalleighDoodle · 08/10/2016 20:38

I loved Birdman.
Hotel Rwanda.

GirlOnAReplacementBus · 08/10/2016 20:43

Queen , The Pianist is a brilliant film and will certainly stay with you but it does have quite harrowing scenes and you will bawl your eyes out.

glitterandtinsel · 08/10/2016 20:44

Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
The Help. This film is about black maids during the civil rights movement in America . It is clever and understated. I love this film.
I love Deadpool, with Ryan Renaldo. I watched it on the the way home from

glitterandtinsel · 08/10/2016 20:46

Whoops!
From holiday and was trying not to laugh for fear of disturbing others on the plane.

LockedOutOfMN · 08/10/2016 20:46

Bridge of Spies with Tom Hanks and AMAZING Mark Rylance

rocket74 · 08/10/2016 20:47

Foxcatcher is based on a true story and it was really sad and interesting.
The Room and Still Alice are on Amazon now so I'm hoping to watch those soon,
Transparent isn't a film but the end of the 2nd series stayed with me for weeks.

GirlOnAReplacementBus · 08/10/2016 20:52

Dodo' I love Local Hero and The Dish too.Empire of the Sun is a fab film too OP, if you,be not seen it.It's pretty old though, Christian Bale was just a wee boy in it. Withnail and I is one of my all times favourites,it's kind of loosely based on a true story , is funny as hell and deliciously quotable - but you've probably seen it.

nicenewdusters · 11/10/2016 23:33

The Machinist with Christian Bale. Caught it once on tv, never seen it again. You have to watch really carefully, lots of twists, and just when you think you'll never figure it out it's all explained. I loved it, C B is astonishing, it's quite a hard watch (not horror) but I thought worth it.

The Remains of the Day. Beautiful film.

The Elephant Man. Hard watch but awesome.

ladiebird · 27/10/2016 01:22

I'd forgotten all about The Dish. It's a lovely film.
