Films you'd forgotten you loved

Watching Field of Dreams. Fantastic film, not watched it in ages. Kevin Costner I know is not to everyone's taste but I like him in his earlier stuff. No way out is brilliant.

But there's also Amy Madigan, Ray Liotta, James earl Jones and Burt Lancaster among others including a young Gaby Hoffman.

It's also reminded me of No Way Out which I must try and find to watch.

What films have you not watched for ages, know you like but have maybe forgotten how much you like them?

Tha Bad News Bears, 1976 original.

I'd forgotten how ground-breaking it was in the sense of practically writing the template for the 'misfits come together and create something magical' genre.

Also, whoever decided to use the music from Carmen throughout the film was a fecking genius.

I've not heard of bad news bears I'll check it out.

I've discovered No Way Out is on Netflix but my WiFi playing up at mo so will watch when that's fixed.

It is. I'm not an Al Pacino fan as such but he is brilliant in this.

Just thought of another - Trainspotting. The soundtrack was also brilliant. I heard a rumour they were going to make a follow up next year so really looking forward to that.

I've seen trainspotting once and thought it a good film but my ocd prevents me from watching again.

I like al Pacino I've only ever seen him in one film I didn't like - heat. Godfather/s, scent of a woman, insomnia, the recruit (excellent film)...
He's in another of my favourites - Devils Advocate

I tried watching Trainspotting again shortly after my DS was born. As soon as the scene with the baby in the flat of junkies appeared I had to turn it off. That didn't upset me at all prior to his birth.
I have to admit I'm a Clint Eastwood fan, I know he's really right wing but he does make good films. I think my favourite is The Outlaw Josey Wales, followed by Letters from Iwo Jima.

I'm the same with tom cruise. I enjoy his films very much but agree he's a brainwashed tosser in real life!

bacon you've no idea how happy you've made me! Saw No Way Out years ago, absolutely loved it! but couldn't remember the name of the film. Had no luck googling the plot and thought I'd never find it again. Bless you! Xmas Smile

I'd love to see Bull Durham, Field of Dreams and A Perfect World again. I've never seen No Way Out but it looks good. Kevin Costner made some great films but Robin Hood:Prince of Thieves is one of my least favourite film ever. It's cringeworthy.
I saw Casino years ago when it was out first and it didn't make much of an impression on me but saw it again on television recently and loved it. Sharon Stone should have won an Oscar for it.
Frankie and Johnny and Sea of Love are two of my favourite Al Pacino films. I'm not a Tom Cruise fan but I'd like to see Rain Man again.

The Day of the Jackal, I can watch that film time and again. It is my go to film on a flight.

Secret oh what a lovely post glad I've helped.

Laurie die hard series is a classic in this house watched every Christmas.

Mmack I liked robin hood but took it for what it was, cheesy nonsense.

Gnome day of the jackal and DOA are both excellent films. Not watched DOA for years must hunt it out. Day of the jackal was on one of the non mainstream channels a few days ago.

DOA was very good. And thinking of Dennis Quaid reminds me of the excellent Breaking Away. I'd also like to rewatch Someone to Watch Over Me with Tom Berenger, Presumed Innocent with Harrison Ford and A Kiss Before Dying with Matt Dillon. I think a lot of people would enjoy a good thriller on television at Christmas instead of The Holiday for the 300th time.

"Field of Dreams" is a good film, though always made Sad for me by its insertion into the schedules by ITV on the day of the Dunblane murders. They were going to show the Bond "View To A Kill", and quite rightly pulled it.
A good choice: a melancholy and affirming of life.

I want to rewatch all these now! Have seen hardly any new films for ages, let alone revisited old favourites.

Dog Day Afternoon is particularly brilliant.

mine is Crossing Delancey. Smile It's a charming feel good film where the Jewish grandmother gets Amy Irving together with the Pickle man (Peter Riegert)
