Any recommendations? He's full of a cold and wants to just chill on the sofa. He's watched all the Thomas Tank Engine ones ages ago (except Day of Diesels - bit scary for him). He loves Dora and especially loves the Chipmunks

Disney stuff is too scary for him (such as Toy Story, Bugs Life, Cinderella and Snow White). Would Cars or Planes be ok or are there scary bits in there too? By scary I mean scary looking things, or scary scenes. He seems to be ok with a bit of jokey mild peril (Chipmunks).

We have netflix and amazon prime (trial) so any recommendations please?

Thanks

DS loves Elf - I know it's a Christmas movie but he'd watch it any day of the year!

Also The Muppets? Probably everything else we watch would be on your scary list, sorry! Sad

How about Lost and Found - the movie of the Oliver Jeffers book is just lovely. No idea if it's on Netflix though, sorry.

My 5yo was scared of lost and found! The storm freaked her out.

What about Winnie the pooh? There are a few different movies that are quite tame.

Annie is ok until the end!

How about The Polar Express? I know it's not Christmas but it's always been popular here!

How about Spongebob, or old classics like Mary Poppins or Bedknobs and Broomsticks?
Disney films like Oliver & Company, Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo, and The Aristocats don't have scary bits in.

I would say that the first Cars movie may be scary, it's just racing though the tractor tipping scene is a bit scary when Frank (The Combine) comes out. Haven't seen much of the 2nd Cars movie.

A friends son who found most things scary loved Surfs Up at age 5

Diego? Which is the boy version of Dora?

Princess lillifee which is a softer version if frozen.

Oomi zoomi, interactive like Dora, Diego etc.

Would second the recommendations for Mary Poppins and Lady and the Tramp and Aristocats. DD (6yo) gets frightened by most films but she liked those. Polar Express looked a bit freaky to me but we only managed 10 mins before it had to switched off.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 12/02/2015 22:53

What about episodes of Mr Bean?

SuiGeneris · 12/02/2015 22:54

My 4-year-old was also scared by the same movies as the OP's DS, but loved Fantasia, Aristocats, Peter Rabbit, Diego and Dora, Winnie the Poo. We also got a 7-DVD set of old Disney shorts from the 50s, which were v gentle and which he loved, especially after his grandmother explained she watched them when she was his age.
Alphablocks, Numtums, Octonauts etc on CBeebies are also good.

SuiGeneris · 12/02/2015 22:55

The sword in the rock is also v good

poocatcherchampion · 12/02/2015 22:57

This is good. We have Annie on repeat here. Frozen and lion king haven't worked out.

I might seek out Winnie the pooh.

We need things that are more than 30mins long, so I can work and dd can zone out a bit.
