In the cinema today a little boy sat next to my ds2, he was tiny and can't have been older than 4 ...

He was a little angel all the way through - sat quietly and enjoyed the film: Cars (141 mins). (I praised him afterwards for his good behaviour, and his mum was clearly very proud of him.)

Unlike the two girls just in front. The youngest looked about 3 - she stood up, chatted, shouted, climbed on the railings, and generally mucked about. And the other girl with her, who looked 6 or 7, but just possibly could have been only 5, then copied her.
I was incensed
The adults with them seemed to think they were cute and amusing. Gggrrrr.....
Eventually, after at least an hour messing around, they picked them up and sat them on their laps, which was a bit of an improvement.

Have to admit that people talking loudly and messing about, regardless of age, does drive me mad in the cinema. Okay in a children's film I expect to hear a little bit of noise - chattering, getting up to go to the toilet, sweets, etc. But some people seem to take that to extremes.

Taken 4yo DD to the cinema couple of times now, and to the theatre lots (children's type shows) and always insist she behaves sensibly, stays in her place and is quiet (unless the theatre requires otherwise). Infact I don't have to insist - she just does it. If she couldn't do that I would take her out.

All the girls were acting up when I went to see it

Not really a girls sort of film I think - dd has been glued to every film I have ever taken her to since she was 2.5 but we had to leave half way through this as she was so bored (and so were we!)

Although DD didn't play up when we saw Cars, she certainly wasn't as transfixed by it as she is with other films. Definitely more of a boy's film I think - certainly not first choice for a princess and pink obsessed girly girl we found. The 4yo boy, who loves cars and machines, adored it!

Is it any good ? Planning to go on Friday now I think.

So many kids are used to sitting at home in front of dvds' while eating , talking , being distracted that I don't think they realise a cinema should be any different.

The 40 minutes of trailers before are a pain. It is fine as a film. As I said, the little boy we were with loved the whole thing. It wasn't really up DD's street TBH. I wasn't that bothered about it either, although Dh enjoye dit.

ds 6 and dd 4 had a good time, as did my dh - went with 3 other men and their offspring last weekend. All the dads enjoyed it as did the children

Mascaraohara · 23/08/2006 17:32

me and dd enjoyed it (shes 4) the only thing is the trailors.. they went on forever!

We all enjoyed it: not much of a plot - but the animation is fantastic, great for adults to enjoy.

If adverts annoy you then phone the cinema and ask how long they will last (prob c.20 mins) and arrive then. But don't miss the pre-film short - it's superb.

At the end don't leave early, as there are some hilarious Pixar antics (a la Shrek) during the credits.
