Highlander.

My line of annoyed questioning makes dh mental every time it comes on.

There can be only one. So how come there are a few of them? If they've been around for ever why do they only want to lop each others heads off now. It's bollocks. Have wiki'd it, tried to read about the plot, nope, still disconnected nonsensical bollocks.

Blair Witch - scary? Tense? Really? Watching someone's snot dribble out of their anorak hood whilst they rustle a few leaves in front of a camcorder for 90 minutes.

Avatar, oh I get the plot, it's just why anyone thought such a load of predictable, in the first 10 minutes, crap was worth making, I don't get.

Ex boyfriend once made me sit through some total shit called 'Eraserhead'. Think it was directed by David Lynch. And it was in black and white. Oh yes...just Googled it and it says,

"Henry Spencer tries to survive his industrial environment, his angry girlfriend, and the unbearable screams of his newly born mutant child."

Very romantic! Anyone like to guess if he got sex that night????

Oh dear, I love most of the films mentioned so far! Haven't seen the more recent ones, though, so look forward to Inception as everyone hates it Grin

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I went out for a walk halfway through.

I didn't get Cloverfield. Wtf is it all about, apart from another film where attacks happen in NY.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, this is a comedy.

I didn't get the humour, only laughed once throughout the whole film. I think you have to be a fan of Jacques Cousteau to understand it.

The Big Lebowski - just fecking dire and deeply unfunny.

The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - Kate Winslet with green hair, being 'kooky' and a plot that throws up more paradoxes than my brain can deal with.

'Donnie Darko' for me too, and 'Lost in Translation'

usually the type of films I would like but just thought, what was that all about? Confused at the end

Reviving this a bit to say:

Eraserhead. Tried v v hard to 'get it'.. don't hate it because it is what it is but- blimey.

I struggle a bit with Fellini- La Dolca Vita, La Strada?

And I confess with Peter Greenaway, though I liked Drowning by numbers- so, so WEIRD!

I want to see Avatar and Inception, and Matrix but I don't have time. I'm cleaning bogs whilst DH takes the boys to see such stuff!

Mullholland Drive

Utterly insane and unfathomable.

HelsBels we did the same with Moulin Rouge

DH loved the Matrix films, they just confused me, but them I loved The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and he walked out of the cinema, saying, Thats two hours of my life I will never get back Grin

Nodding along to a lot of these.

I got inception and the matrix although I had to concentrate hard. Tinker tailor I got on the secong viewing.

Memento utter tosh and Mullholland drive I turned it off after about half an hour!

I also didn't like Mamma mia and still can't see why people love it so much.

Watched Red Lights this week. Neither DH nor I really got it but quite enjoyed it regardless. Cillian Murphy yum ; )

I'm a big fan of imdb when I've not fully understood a film (or just want to check!)

Thought Memento was brilliant.

Mulholland Drive is perfectly "normal" (sort of!) for about 40 minutes then nothing makes sense for the next 2 hours. Then you start to realise the film has absolutely nothing to do with what you are seeing. Oh the fun. Hmm

Watched Kill List lately, I really really liked it, but it was a bit Hmm and left me with a few questions.

I love memento, but I do have to think quite hard to get it , I mean I think I get it, but maybe I have the wrong end of the stick and don't really get it at all Confused.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I did, however, go to sleep during the film which might explain my puzzlement.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS

I also love loads of the films on here.

Memento has a wicked twist.

The extended version of Donnie Darko tells you quite explicitly what it's all about with the old book and time travel and stuff. Basically, he dies so that she doesn't, but in doing so they never meet.

2001 is about evolution - the first step where they evolve into mankind is shown. Then the apex of mankind's evolution is shown, with all the whizzy space travel and stuff. Then the evolution into a new form of being is shown. There's more to it than that but that's the basics.

With Cache, you get the answer in the last shot.

Mulholland Drive is part-fantasy created in the head of one of the characters. That takes up a lot of the film, and there are signposts that it is a fantasy. Then you get to what really happened in the last part of the film.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is easier to follow if you keep track of her hair colour.

I didn't "get" both 'The Master' and 'Punk Drunk Love'. I understood the plots but just couldn't find anything to latch on to with either film.

I think there are some films that you are not meant to understand. I enjoy them for a piece of cinema like Donnie Darko and Inception

Jake Gyllenhall, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Tom Hardy distracted me too much from the plot

Anything by the Coen brothers...I actually left the cinema during O Brother Where Are Thou.

Although my preferred genre of film is romantic comedy/anything with jennifer aniston in it Xmas Blush
