DD's birthday, she wanted to go to see Monte Carlo but it looks like it isn't on anywhere near us.
So looking for a DVD that they might enjoy.
She would love something like said Monte Carlo which looked like a pile of dross to mebut will take any recommendations.
I like something more magical like Nanny McPhee or The Spiderwick Chronicles etc
Suppose it's not my birthday, so will take your advice.

Bridge to Terebithia is heartbreaking.

Hulababy · 12/11/2011 18:35

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Ramona

perhaps?

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 12/11/2011 18:36

I like Inkheart, and Moonacre is ok, but if you've read the Little White Horse you'll find the plot infuriating. Would they watch Harry Potter?

DarrellRivers · 12/11/2011 19:16

They have seen all HPs except last, that isn't out in time is it?

I would prefer Inkheart but she seems to be going towards Selena Gomez Sad

Might buy both, I do like the look of Ramona as well

I wouldn't let my dd watch the last Harry Potter I don't think. It scared me Wink Night at the Museum?

DarrellRivers · 12/11/2011 19:45

'Ramona and Beezus' edging in front thank goodness
(am going to buy Inkheart as well I think)
I loved Elizabeth Goudge, Linnets and Valerians was my fave

HP scared me too
But DH watches with them
Would be too much to watch with other people's children though

Inkheart is good but the end sequence with the monster is pretty bloody terrifying - depends how sensitive they are.

MrsVoltar · 12/11/2011 19:50

Hotel for Dogs is good, I watch it with DS (but his female friends like it too)

MrsVoltar · 12/11/2011 19:51

Sorry, just realised you mean at the cinema, was thinking DVD night in.

MrsVoltar · 12/11/2011 19:53

What a numpty I am, teaches me for skimming thread, you are asking for DVD recommendations! (note to self-read the thread Grin)

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 12/11/2011 19:55

Or soemthing animated? My dd likes Spirited Away and Ponyo. Or failing that, Enchanted is always a winner.

southeastastra · 20/11/2011 22:45

2nd ponyo

FreddoBaggyMac · 22/11/2011 16:05

My DDs (6 and 7) absolutely LOVED The secret of moonacre (personally I thought it looked pretty and that was it!)

pinkmoomin · 23/11/2011 09:59

Hi, I've also been racking my brains thinking of a suitable film for 12 girls to watch at my DDs 8th birthday. Between them they've pretty much seen all the popular and recent films that have come out, so I'm considering Labyrinth - the 80's movie with David Bowie. I haven't actually seen it myself, and imagine it looks a dated. But it gets rave reviews from people nostalgic about their childhood.
