Went tonight.
So long they had a break halfway thro...
...could easly be cut by 60 mins, for the better
'...is this King Kong..' ds after 1 hour!
2 'moments' are near the 12A mark; the choc moment outside the wall and the 6ft Maggot scene, orrible! 6 and 8 year old both gave it a 7 tho..
A film that didnt seem to know what it wanted to be.. Adult/child? A poor 5 from me

Thanks Anteater that's really helpful. I have no desire to see it, but ds1 (8) is keen and dh is happy to take him. So I'll merrily wave them on their way!

Not as good as Harry and the Henderson's.

I love a bit of anthropomophics me

oh god, developed neckache halfwey thro, we didn't get a break unfortunately!! way too long-winded. a lot of the scenes were too long.
and it is amazingly rather violent and gory. could give little children nightmares i reckon. some parts were quite scary esp with the natives. the natives were almost like zombies.they looked really ghostly.
and the whole love plot between beauty and the beast was just bizarre. the cinematography was ace tho. and naomi watts was brilliant. is it just me, or does she look a lot like nicole kidman in some scenes???

dp & i saw this last night. agree it was both too long & too gory. fun though.

bobbybobbobbingalong · 27/12/2005 08:27

is it a kids movie?

spacedonkey · 30/12/2005 01:12

I went with dp, dd and ds tonight and we all loved it. The special effects are incredible, and Andy Serkis' "performance" as Kong was excellent (and moving, I thought).

Those 6ft maggots looked like penises with teeth!

My dd's seen it (she's 14) and loved it... didn't mention that it seemed overly long and actually admitted to crying in two places. She never normally cries at films (not even ET!)

at the screening I went to last night there were a couple of young children sitting in the front row (ages about 6 and 8) and they seemed to love it - only a little bit of fidgeting in the early part
