enjoyable, quite funny in places but ultimately forgettable.

Idris Elba best thing in it.

I thought some parts were a bit too rushed for example Jane Foster completely falling in love with Thor after such a short time and of him doing the same towards her. While other parts were drawn out but to an acceptable pace in which I thought the other parts should have been equaled too. Understandable though as it would have made the movie four hours long. While I can sit through hours of a good movie (ie Lord of the Rings) not everyone else can.

Asgard was stunning and Anthony Hopkins portail of Odin was spot on to what the 'All Father' should be. And yes Idris Elba as Heimdall was pretty awesome. The translation of Bifrost into cinamatic was also an excellent way of explaining.

As a follower of the Norse faith and a huge Marvel fan I was rather sceptical of how this movie would turn out. Over all I was please with the many inside jokes and the changes the studio had made to ensure the Norse faith was not diminished.

I would like to see another Thor movie produced in the future beyond The Avengers movie to further Thor's personal story line.

Thor is a 12A. Would anyone who has seen it take an 8.5 year old to see it?

He is obsessed with Nordic mythology (ie loved the Percy Jackson books)

Thanks

I thought it looked absolutely amazing. I don't know much about Norse mythology so couldn't say if it was acurate though.

I'm not sure about the casting of Thor and Jane. I didn't think that there was any chemistry between Natalie PortMan and Chris Hemsworth.

Antony Hopkins was great as always, so was Tom Hiddlestone, who played Loki.

I'll tell you my thoughts tomorrow Libra, I'm taking my ds2 to see it for his 10th birthday with a group of friends but he is a Marvel fanatic and Norse history nut so is super excited.

Many thanks Ingles.

I really loved it! Actually i agree that the Jane/Thor relationship was a bit lame, but loved all the action and thought the script was good and snappy. It would definitely be fine for under 12s i'd say. Also my Swedish husbands was if anything grudgingly impressed by the amount of norse mythology they'd squeezed in, with surprisingly accurate details in some cases. He really enjoyed it too.

It's all beautiful, especially in 3D. And the guy who plays Thor is very nice to look at too.

EverSoLagom · 14/05/2011 10:28

Oops, typo, just the one husband!

ok... so. we had 8, 10 yr olds with us... they enjoyed it definitely, but it was very long and reasonably complicated.
My son and his absolute best friend know a lot about Marvel and Norse mythology and they probably got the most out of it... the other boys enjoyed it, but not as much. Last year, when ds2 was 9, we took them to see Prince of Persia and that was more successful definitely.
I quite enjoyed it, it veered a little too far into sci-fi /cgi for my tastes but Thor was very pleasant to look at Grin

Many thanks Ingles. Sounds like we will be going today!
