Swyer syndrome - GC

If you say that xy = male, would you apply that to someone Swyer syndrome? They don't have male organs and go through female puberty once on hormones and consider themselves female and present as female but have xy hormones.

No, but they have a different DSD that means they went through male puberty. So not the same.

Fair enough, I agree.
I was just confused by your previous comment.

The boxers had DSDs and that was mostly seen as unfair so I do think OP has a point. I think people who are GC would generally think that anyone who has been through male puberty - whether they’re trans or have a DSD - should not be in women’s sport etc.

Did you think the boxers fairly won gold @HaddyAbrams?

Do you genuinely not see the difference between humans who develop functioning testes and its implication on their growth and physical strength and humans who develop structures to support uteruses etc?

Of course I see the difference. I’m a biologist.

I was confused by pp’s comment that I quoted.
I thought it implied she didn’t see the difference, but that has since been clarified. I misunderstood what she was saying, sorry about that.

As I specifically mentioned Swyers, which is also the topic of the thread, I thought it was clear that that's what I was talking about.

@HaddyAbrams
No, I thought you were talking about DSDs in general, sorry about that.
Anyway, I’m on the same page now😊

It's ok. Sometimes I say things and people seem to think I've said the complete opposite. I am ND and that possibly pays a part.

Thanks, maybe I was just reading too fast too.
I’m interested to know why OP started this thread.

Because they assumed that we were all stupid women who didn’t understand the complexities of DSDs and it would be a reasonably easy way to tie us in semantic knots… but they were wrong.

You mean to say the women's curve is shifted down on the x axis relative to men.

Regardless, you agree then that a noticeable minority of men have a smaller build, and a noticeable minority of women are huge, right?

There is an overlap between the normal distribution curves, yes. But they are by no means overlaid, which shows that your original position is baseless.

Interestingly, if we were to plot naturally occurring testosterone levels in men and women there would be a very small overlap indeed. This explains the significant strength difference between men and women who are of the same height and weight.

Men, as a class, are taller, stronger and faster than women. Men, as a class, are the ones killing women.

i have read several threads in various places by people with Swyers. I was curious about the GC take on it, so thanks for all your insights.

Curious you say? Sure.
