I wish this was in force when I was a runner in Bradford. I had my hat torn off my head by a group of teen males, which took some hair with it. The police didn't want to know. I've been beeped at by vans and shouted at from windows. Waaaaaaay it sounded like. If I saw a group of teens I would cross over. Then the neighbours called me mental for running and said they watched my husband set of for his run so he dropped money on a treadmill. Now I don't have to worry about running in Bradford past the traffic. There seems to be an anti running mentality in this district.
Hope the plan spans nationwide.

I am presuming that this gives powers to seize cars ?

I imagine that it's a case of finding that as well as the catcalling, they're driving round with no insurance/license or under a driving ban or similar.

It's axiomatic that criminals are morons.

(However my local FB group gets very uppity if you call them "scrotes". Apparently that's demeaning).

Bradford has a significant problem with people in cars for a whole host of reasons, abusing females (running or otherwise) is only a part of it. I would imagine this contributes to a greater picture in terms of Operation Steerside to try and manage all kinds of antisocial behaviour relating to vehicles. Those engaging in this type of behaviour I’d think are also more likely to engage in dangerous parking, speeding, running lights etc as a pattern of behaviour.

As a Bradford resident I’m very curious indeed as to where they’ve been carrying this out.

We had a case locally where a 15 year old had been stopped and was having his illegal off road motorbike confiscated. Dad shows up in a car with a driving ban and no insurance and promptly got his car confiscated too!

As I said, criminals are thick as pigshit. They really are. If they could vote they could be dangerous.

Brilliant - would love the real data around this too.

They are ABSOLUTELY scrotes.

That why I never took up running on my younger days . I tried it once and got sick of beeping cars , lewd remarks and being laughed at . So that was that . What is it about the sight of a young woman that sends men gaga ?

SquirrelSoShiny · 17/10/2024 18:55

I actually love this as a sanction.
