The term ‘Violence Against Women and Girls’

Hearing a lot about this on the news today and it’s got my wondering why the term is VAWG and not MALE Violence Against Women and Girls. That’s what we’re talking about isn’t it? So why identify the victims and not the perpetrators?

I suspect something to do with the fact that the male rights lobby is very powerful at the moment and fighting its corner from all sides of the political spectrum; from incels, usually linked with the 'right' of politics, to trans rights activists on the 'left'. The latter in particular seem strong in organisations and lobbies that claim to centre women.

I think the comments on here show why the male has been dropped. Even though we all know that the majority of the violence is perpetrated by males.

Are there any stats showing what the % increase is in the female on female violence which doesn't include the women with penises in the figures.

And for once I think it’s not a case of NAM. It seems so make all men uncomfortable. But then, I think it should bloody well make them uncomfortable.

The victims of male violence are everyone - but women and girls are subjected to specific types of male violence, and for reasons that don't necessarily apply to gang violence, pub fights etc. As thr OP says we need to be specific if we are to tackle it effectively.
